My DAB radio has a habit of cutting out and I cannot get it back on without rebooting the infotainment system. Has anyone else had this problem? I had a mark one for two years with no problems and I now have had a mark two for two months.

Which car? I had all sorts of issues with my Gen1, I think one of the software updates fixed it

I have exactly the same problem on my 2022 Trophy Connect!
I videoed the problem and my dealer has passed that on to MG for a response.
The radio goes silent and totally unresponsive. No amount of finger tapping will get it to change station. The volume slider goes up and down but no sound comes out!
The software is rubbish!

One thing, and it might be, and probably is totally unrelated. Does anybody else when you get the welcome to the care message, do it default to 2019? or any sort of random date? 1st jan this year, this day/month but in 2019? the time is right. then it sorts itself out. Wondering where it's picking the time up, maybe DAB?

Mine does the same Zs trophy connect the dealer contacted MG he has got a software fix for the Date and 600 mile service but radio need new part not in stock in this country delivery 2 mouths

Oh how I love typos!
I'll raise you 2 mouths for a tooth!
Being serious, that sounds like the parts are on a ship from China.
I'll contact my dealer and see if he has had the same feedback from MG UK.

I have a similar issue in my ZS Trophy... Radio keeps "pausing" randomly and I have to keep pressing the play button. I wonder if it is anything to do with the phone trying to play notifications over bluetooth and the radio allowing it to interrupt it to do so?

I had exactly the same issue in my BMW i3. It got rather annoying! It seems all cars have their infotainment and systems quirks. I would not put it down to a specific MG problem :)

Just drove back from York and took the scenic route, up to Thursk then across to the M6. Got to Aisgarth and stopped for a cuppa, when we started off again no DAB. It was mute until we got close to the M6. DAB reception is crap in the countryside and FM isn't much better.

Our problem is NOT to do with signal strength, but is the radio portion of the infotainment freezing and becoming unresponsive. No amount of prodding will change station or be able to change to FM either. Being able to go to the DAB station selection tab is impossible.
My dealer has been in touch with MG and now want to scan the car for various model/serial numbers and versions of software/hardware on my car. I'm taking it in on Monday, so I'll keep you informed of the result.
I think MG know there is a problem and are putting their fingers in there ears and going 'La La, La"!
My dealer says that VW have a system of logging these issues on line and it can see a connection and so gets investigated. Why don't MG operate the same system. because the Chinese think they know everything!

Ian.
Can you keep us updated on this issue as it has just happened to me yesterday. Everything worked after I restarted the car.

This action is standard as part of the customer support team playbook.

So many companies not just MG UK seem to ignore the fact that we the customers can swop our experiences in forums such as this. They still fry to pick us off one by one with “not heard of this problem”. I do feel that there is a lack of communication between the technical back up team (if there is one) and the dealers. The only reassuring fact is that after following other forums Kia, Hyundai and VW seem to be in just the same position.

BTW my Sept 2022 TCLR has the same infotainment freeze problem and I just reboot (push and hold home button) and this sorts it out till next time.

Hi, Yes. I went into my dealer the other week and they did a firmware update on the infotainment system.
There was no information from MG UK as to what they were updating or what it might/should do!
This is standard practice by the way within the car industry! 'Nothing to see here!' type of thing!
I have to say so far it seems to have done the trick. It still forgets the radio station after charging, but it doesn't just stop working, or rather it hasn't done so yet!
Apple Carplay still is very iffy, you are using Waze and then the screen goes off! Really helpful at a difficult junction!
I don't think an incoming text causes problems, but I was using CarPlay and Waze and I had two phone calls that never rang!
I NEVER had these problems with my I-Pace, even though the infotainment was not nearly so sophisticated at the start. It was faultless after a few updates, even having no problem with an add on little white box device giving Apple Carplay wirelessly.
On my MG (2022 Facelift Trophy Connect) it works but every so often the car has a hissy fit!
And as I said, cabled it isn't that reliable, especially if the journey is a long one. I wonder if heat is an issue. Before anybody questions the cable it is like this on every cable, genuine Apple or not. The same issues are to be had on another iPhone, so not the phone! Only thing left is the car!

In summary, the radio seems to be more reliable, not perfect though but a lot better than it was. It still has difficulty joining a new MUX. It will keep you happily listening to Radio 2 when you leave Hampshire and go into Surrey say. But once in Surrey it will have difficulty finding Radio 4 should you wish to listen to that station! It will get there but takes an age!

Useful thread, thanks! My radio always seems to cut out on long distances which is super frustrating. I suspected it was a software issue, so it's good to know there is a potential firmware update available!

I have a slightly different issue. Sometimes the radio is available. Other times it won’t work at all. And sometimes I’m lucky and it plays when I get in. Bluetooth is a joke as it recognises my son’s iphone but not mine. It all seems quite random.

I am also having problems with my MG4 - radio and blue tooth system, only 5 weeks old and been back to the garage twice and still have intermittent radio and every time i get in the car I have to pair my phone on the blue tooth system. Due to go back into the garage but they don't seem to have a solution - very disappointing.

Suggestion: Clear everything from your bluetooth log, reboot your phone and the head display and try again. If fails, try another phone.

We’ve just had the exact same issue, after ending a call the radio stopped working both DAB & FM. Tried pressing and holding ‘home’ button to reboot made not the slightest difference, not a very good start to my EV experience 🤨
