Correct car (model)?

Anyone had this situation, ordered car mg zs Ev trophy connect 2022 took deliv 2023 - Ukraine chips etc etc paid cash invoice all correct, now have found out it’s a trophy. Not a connect. Mg says saic pushed cars through to get them
Delivered and didn’t make any trophy connects ?? Any comments?

Hi, have a search on the forum but you should have had a 'connect' if that's what you ordered

Put the reg in the MOT checker and see what the model says. Do you have a pano roof? Do you have mobile data in the car?

In the U.K. the higher spec models of the ZS EV LR facelift, it came in two models.
Either the Trophy or the Trophy Connect version.
We have the Trophy and it does NOT have the connect features of the voice command facility.
The highest spec Trophy Connect DID have this feature, but it was an additional £500 more expensive than the Trophy, if I remember correctly.
If you were invoiced for a Trophy Connect and do not have the features, then you should be entitled to a refund surely ?.
MG removed the feature of the Sky roof on the higher spec models into the U.K. on cars ordered after June of 2023 I think, but I think they did included the connect feature as standard and increased the price of the car as well.

The 2023 51 kWh Trophy I picked up a couple of weeks ago doesn't have the sky roof & doesn't have the heated seats either, There's a blanking plate in place of the heated seat buttons.

What makes you think it isn’t a trophy connect? There is very little difference between the two, which is why I didn’t pay the extra £500.

I don’t believe the standard range with cloth seats, ever had the Sky roof in the ZS EV facelift model ?.
Only the higher spec models with the pleather seats had heated seats and these are controlled by a touch button in the info screen.
No physical buttons to press as such.
The Sky roof was discontinued even on the higher spec models, which I think was a real shame, given that the price of the car was also increased at the same time.
The early Gen1 ZS EV’s were unbeatable value for money back in 2019.
But now in 2024 there is a lot more other EV’s that can come close to competing in that price sector.

Ah Right! Yes facelift model. Shows how much notice I took when everything was being explained to me :rolleyes:It has got the pleather seats.

One of the more recent face lift Trophy models then that had the Sky roof delete.
I was not aware that they had removed the heated front seats as well 👎.

I need to thank you as I got my wires crossed & thought the heated seats had been removed. I looked on the infotainment screen as you pointed out & they are indeed on there .
As you mentioned it's just sky roof that's been deleted on my Trophy 51kW ZS EV So thank you for putting that straight. :)

Yes and Yes...
In that case you should have trophy connect. You can try to say "hello MG, open sunroof" to proove it is connect model or not. It works on connect model.
ZS trophy ordered after July 2022 are with connect feature but connect is not in model name any more.

You’re very welcome !.
When MG announced they intended to delete the Sky roof facility from the higher spec ZS EV face lift models, I am pretty sure they intended to included the IConnect feature of voice commend to ease the pain in some manner ?.

Not all have the panoramic roof. Mine is the Trophy connect long range. Got all the correct features except the roof. Apparently they pushed a bunch out without in order to keep up with demand. Shame though. I like that feature as I've had a car with panoramic roof for years 😐

I believe MG decided to delete the sky roof option on the higher spec cars, on any new factory placed orders placed, after around June time of 2023.
It became very hit and miss after this date,
If when the car was delivered, it actually had with a sky roof installed.
Not even the dealers could tell until it arrived.
It was fingers firmly crossed 🤞 if you got one fitted.
As time passed by, the chances of getting one with sky roof became more are more rare.
The roof delete coincided with a price increase also, if I remember correctly.
Which was a complete double whammy.
A full pano roof with the facility to electrically open the first 50% of the front section, would likely been a £1,500 - £2,000 option on many other cars.
So, removing the roof, plus a heavy price increase combined, would have a big negative effect on choosing the ZS EV speaking only for myself.
For MG the cost saving on production was massive.
Installing a single solid roof pressing to all models and then not buying in the full roof cassette, plus the reduction costs to production and the installation time was a big advantage.

I think the V2L feature was removed too - post 2022. Shame really, as I thought it was a great feature although some people who bought later models on the old (not updated) spec sheet, managed to get a device replaced (ECU??) that re-instated the V2L for free, but now MG spec doesn’t show it so no joy there…

Removing the V2L feature never made any sense at all TBH.
As restoring the facility can easily be achieved, by simply replacing small ECU module that is bolted to the N/S/F chassis rail, then a short time to about 30 minutes of recoding ?.
As some customers had placed their orders for new cars in good faith, on the understand / expectation that this as an advertised / promoted feature included, they had to react with some corrective action.
Ether enable the advertised feature or reimbursement customers for non receipt ?.
