About to receive delivery of my MG 4.

It’s coming via salary sacrifice.

I have a suspicion based on a conversation with the company who fulfill the order before I even ordered the car that it was already in the UK when I ordered it though my delivery status changed to “released from factory” for nearly two weeks as though it was being shipped here to order.

I think the car will indeed be brand new though I would lose some faith in the process if the car was here already and “released from factory” was for show only.

Is there a way to find out more about when the car was assembled or arrived in the uk?

Will look out for that.

In no doubt that the car will be new but I’m not buying the “released from factory” thing just.

Does anyone know how long a car would even take to make it to the uk after being “released from factory”?

Before the current situation that means shipping is avoiding the Suez Canal we'd have said 3-4 weeks shipping and then 2-3 weeks PDI at the docks. However now it might be 6+ weeks shipping time.

Maybe a cancelled order so it was in stock.
Mine took a long time to arrive and I bet it had arrived a while ago but there were several delays in delivery at that time. It was delivered with 7 miles on the clock and has been perfect so far.

i wouldn’t be worried if I were you.

Mine was built on 8th January 2023 and I drove away in it on 13th April. However, it was already on the dealer's forecourt before then - I had my test drive and ordered the car only five days before getting it. It was just my good luck he had exactly the car I wanted already in stock.

Mine shows registered on date of collection, even though it arrived in the UK a few weeks earlier and then was at the dealer for a couple of days completing their PDI. If you get a result showing a much earlier date than your collection date then you need to be asking them some serious questions.

Yes. I just checked Caliban, and he's showing as registered on 13th April, which was the day I collected him from the dealer. This despite the fact that he was in the dealer's possession for some time before that.

I ordered mine a week last Friday and was told they believed it would arrive in a couple of weeks and they'd keep hold of it ready to register as a '24 plate early March (1st? 🤞). I assume this means it's already in stock at the docks, which is fair enough. I wouldn't expect it to be built to order at the factory. By the same token I wouldn't expect to get one that's been sitting at the docks for a year or two 🤔.
Haven't heard anything yet but hoping next week things start getting a bit exciting 😁🤞

If you're lucky there'll be a certificate of conformity in a plastic wallet in the glovebox - this gives the build date of the car.

For info, I collected my car on 25-Nov-22 and its build date was 28-Aug-22.
I’m not sure about the MG4 but the ZS EV had a plate inside the drivers door post that showed the VIN/Tyre pressure & date of manufacture…
