Been looking to move from an ICE to a petrol hybrid. Have test driven a few options. Had not considered a full EV but I did my homework and had a test drive in an entry level MG4 Excite. I was blown away. Smarts, style, performance at a price comparable to petrol cars. My eyes have been opened. I will be trading in the ASX and ordering a MG4

Stevo. 🙂👍

Welcome to the forum Steve! I’m sure you’ll love your new MG4. 😎

I didn’t recognize your location (Kapiti Coast), so upon checking Google maps I see it’s in the south west of the North Island of New Zealand. It looks gorgeous down there!

Thanks Fifer. Looks like you are also from a stunning part of the world. Interesting MG4 was voted car of the year in UK and NZ. Having seen all the colours, wife and I agree on red.

Kind of a similar situation to me

I’ve only had my MG4 about a month now but was looking at getting a new Ford Puma Hybrid

It was only I spotted an MG4 in the showroom, spoke to the dealer, had a test drive & my mind was made up

Only snag I’ve hit is I was due to have a home charger installed but due to circumstances I’ll now have to wait until April/May but even though more expensive I’ve had no issues using public chargers

No complaints with the car though, absolutely brilliant to drive, comfortable & it all seems very well put together so I have no regrets jumping into an EV earlier than expected

Enjoy your car when you have it 👍

Hi Adam, great to hear you were looking af a hybrid and went full EV instead and are so positive about your new MG4. Reaffirms my decision to go that way!

You won't regret it!

I've had my SE SR over ten months and I only granny-charge on a 13A plug when at home. I was thinking back, and excluding rapid charges done just because I felt like it (rapid charger 5 min walk away same price as home electricity) or for practice, I have only ever needed public charging when I've been staying away from home.

On one of these occasions the extra range I needed was picked up on a destination charger while I was at the theatre. That leaves only three trips, that's six days in total in the year, when I used DC chargers out on the road. Although I made some newbie mistakes I didn't have any serious trouble at all, and I've never been concerned about running out of charge.

You soon get into the way of it, and certainly in Scotland I don't have the need to drive beyond the SR range in a day. The battery is so easy to look after, too. Maybe distances are longer in NZ, but I'm sure you've made a great choice and will get on well.
