Does anyone else think the emergency services call out button above your head ( central / windscreen ) should maybe be a big red button that says "DO NOT PUSH EXCEPT IN AN EMERGENCY" in big letters?
( Watched Father Ted Plane episode last night 😂😂).
It is in exactly the same place I am used to buttons being that I press randomly if I'm desperately trying to find internal lights in the dark 😱.
"Ah, hello officer. Any idea how to turn on my internal lights?.... Thank you, very kind if a little harsh "

Never have any passengers called Dougal, apart from the obvious what exactly constitutes an emergency? which needs the intervention from the MG control centre. "Hello, MG I am in the fast lane of the M5 and I have left my Werthers in the glove box!"

Yes I have thought that. One night I had a situation where the interior light wouldn't go out. It took me a moment to realize it was only a door not closed properly but I did spend a second or two pressing everything I could find around that area :D
Luckily I think you have to hold it for a few seconds to actually trigger the call (but I haven't tried it!).

Yep. I pressed it within the first half hour of ownership. Was very embarrassed explaining to the nice lady that I had pressed it in error, but she sounded like I was a very long way from being the first one she’d had do that.

I thought that until I realised you can customise the number.
Mine's set to call MG Assist (AA).
It was set to call some number with a cypress country code initially so it wouldn't have called the emergency services anyway.

Is that set in the car or in the app? (I don't recall seeing any such setting in the car - SE SR - but it is there in the app).

I inadvertently pressed the emergency call button when trying to turn the lights on. Bit of a panic. Came up on the screen that a call was being made but nothing resulted. Interesting. I think it's possible to set/change the number dialled when the button is pressed. Anyone know where I can find the option to change? I did find emergency call in settings but it wanted me to log into my account - no idea what's needed there. There was a note to log into the app - go to profile and scan a code - there's no such option in the app. So I'm a bit confused. I think I just need to change the E-Call number dialled. Anyone know how to change?

From my guide to the Trophy
5.2.1 Emergency call – eCall SOS service (U259 & E101)

Press the emergency call button in the overhead console for about a second to contact the emergency call centre. A single beep will be heard with a message on the driver’s screen.

Press again within 5 seconds to cancel the call.

If the sensors detect a serious accident the call centre will be contacted automatically.

To check the phone number has been correctly set up, or to alter the place of purchase, go to Home2 screen (swipe the Home screen left) and select the ‘Rescue call’ button. NOTE: You should carry out this check as several owners have reported that it is not set. The number for the UK should be for the Automobile Association.

I had seen that but have now resolved the issue. The screen advised - No country selected and no Bluetooth connection - once I selected UK the right emergency number showed and once my phone had paired I was able to initiate a test call. So all done.
