MG4 - any issues with Approved Used from MG dealer?

Update: managed to get a fantastic deal on a 'used' Trophy from Dec 2023 which actually turned out to be a pre-registered car, so no miles on it! £10k off compared to new...!

Picking it up next week, can't wait...
Congrats and welcome to the club. What colour is it?

Ask the dealer to make sure it's not bonded to someone else's account and get them to bind your phone to the car's account while you are there.

Subtle but important edit ... the car is bound to an account, not a device. :)

Exactly what I did, and the binding process worked very easily. (The key is also to watch some videos about the process so it is all familiar - something that wasn't really around over 15 months ago when I got ERO).

Jerry Pan on youtube was definitely our friend on that one. I lost count of the amount of his videos we watched in the build-up to picking up the car. Very, very helpful to know what to expect.

So did I in Oct 22. Luckily the sales person at the dealer knew what he was doing and took me through the binding process on handover!

Hi all,

I'm seriously considering buying an MG4 in the next few months. We've gone round in circles trying to decide on the best car to buy and keep coming back to the MG4 as a green replacement for our current petrol Ford Fiesta (we've got solar panels and can charge on the drive, so an EV for daily use seems the right thing to do). We've got 2 growing kids (tween & teen) plus a medium-sized dog and we're hoping the MG4 will suit our weekly driving habits that aren't long-haul, so range isn't much of an issue.

We're trying to decide between an SE standard range and a Trophy (necessarily long range). The reason for the Trophy is foremost the electric seats, as my partner and I will be swapping as drivers all the time (and have very different driving positions) plus the parking camera as we often have to negotiate the school run with lots of little ones running out behind cars!

Happy to buy an SESR new from the dealer. I find the Trophy a bit much for the extra specs it gives (I'm not actually keen on the spoiler, and the range isn't very important). However, I've seen deals for Trophy LR cars at £23 - 24k, less than a year old, around 5000 miles, approved used listed on the MG website.

So the big question... should I be wondering why there are such new cars being resold? Are there any issues I should look out for when buying a nearly-new car from the dealer? Or better off just getting a new SESR, or lump it and get a new Trophy LR?

Any insight and experience much appreciated.
My only advice I would emplore you to take is don’t buy a brand new one unless you get a hefty discount. The car may or may not be perfect for you that’s your choice of course but the ev market especially new prices is crashing which actually is good news for someone looking to buy one …not so if like me you’ve sold one you brought new 12 months ago. Good luck.

You're a bit late to the party. In his latest post (two above yours) he said he just got the car.

Don't you have a meeting of Petrolheads Anonymous to be going to?
I still have an ev thanks … thanks for your concern though
