I searched for similar threads and couldn't find anything related to the issue I'm experiencing.

Namely, when the fans / climate control is set to auto, It takes about 5 - 10 minutes for the fans to come on after switching them on.

But if I set the temp and power to manual, the fans come on instantly and the air blown is very hot.

I even keep a thermometer in the car to see what temp is inside. Last time it happened, the temp inside was 5C, and the temp was set to Auto 23C and it took nearly 10 minutes to get the fans blowing.

And no, I am not talking about the front vents, purwsilenceand no fans at all.

I noticed this happening in the morning when it's relatively cold ( 2 - 7 C) especially when the car was not driven for a day or two. But this may be any time, I just haven't driven very often recently.

Has anyone else e, perienced it too?

Yeah mine does this but resetting the infotainment fixes it for a few times after starting the car.

The easiest way around it is to use the app to turn on the heating before getting in the car. If I do that it pauses when I start the car but only for a few seconds.

Yes, we have this issue too. I have been trying to see if I can detect a pattern for when it decides to come on. But I think there's a hack to kickstart it, and that's to switch on the demister for a moment. I've not had the chance to check whether that's an infallible way of prodding it into life, but it's worked a few times so far.
I quite like the auto setting, having had trouble understanding it at first. It keeps things nice and quiet in the cab, once it warms up.

Thank you to everyone who said they don't use Auto 🤣 very useful.

Knowing that auto is malfunctioning in my car I don't use it either but this doesn't resolve the original problem.

I'm hoping someone who had this issue resolved by service will eventually chip in to shed some more light.

Bear in mind that folks don't just respond to questions to give the questioner the answer but also to share their experiences with other people in the forum and help those that come after you.

Knowing people share the same problem and avoid using the function is still useful knowledge for some.

I agree, if they state they have the same problem. 🤔

Check that your control of air flow is not on 'eco' and it is switched to allow air to go through the car. I use it like that at 25c and auto with air directed to screen and feet. Warms quickly and keeps the glass from misting up without using ac

I did state in my response that I find Auto too erratic. Not only do I suffer from fan delays etc... I also suffer from other problems that have been discussed on the forum using Auto setting. These are :-

  • Erratic fan Speeds
  • Overreacting to temperature (mainly in warmer Summer months with AC on) where suddenly the Auto setting will start to blast out cold air at high speed rather than gently maintain a decent temperature
  • Auto coming on just by changing the temp setting.
  • The well known 5c difference in temp settings where 26c in the MG4 is equivalent to 21c in most cars.

For the above reasons I did quite a bit of trial and error and found that the cabin temperature heats up quickly and maintains a steady comforatble temperature using just a manual fan speed of around 3. This avoids noisy high fan speeds and the problem of getting high fan speed blasts of cold air during sunny warm days.

The whole Climate Control system seems buggy and has been reviewed here in the Summer months (go to 12'16" into video and watch all the way to 14'15") 😊👍 :-

I didn't mean you JOHNYG. Your first response was very useful let alone this 😉

I think I experience all the climate control issues you described and I do have my own ways to alleviate them.

Unfortunately this confirms some kind of manufacturer issue which perhaps is resolved in V2.

Perhaps someone who owns Mg4 V2 will let us know.

Thanks for your response again.
