With April's cap rate going down and British gas electric driver v5 and their gas being slightly cheaper (albeit fixed for a year) in all places than octopus go, will they reduce their prices or should I move to BG.

Since Octopus Go, Intelligent or not, is a variable tariff I would hope so.

Anyone seen what to expect on this for octopus intelligent? Had an email about normal tariff today but not intelligent.

Slightly off topic but I saw that Octopus charger installers are now allowed to upgrade the main fuse, meaning you don't have to wait for the (overworked) DNO.

Hi, where did you hear that? I can't believe that all the Octopus installers have done the training to pull fuses as this is done live, plus different DNO's have their own procedures and sealing pliers.

It was on the eFix (YouTube) channel under their electricians news feed. They did say independent electricians were unhappy as it gave Octopus an unfair advantage.

My IOG rates have changed (NW England). No change to the 7.5p cheap rate...

When I had my Ohme installed by Octopus a year ago the installer pulled the main fuse and resealed it - otherwise he would have had to work on live cabling.

The main fuse was previously unsealed because when the smart meters were fitted years ago the installer also had the pull the main fuse, but didn't have the right to reseal it.

In my area I've heard Intelligent night rate is the same but day rate down to 25p something.
No idea yet about ordinary Go.

Update just received email from Octopus. My region brutal increase in standing charge which means as a low daytime user my annual bill will reduce by just £29. :(

I've updated the title of this thread to reflect the fact that prices are being reduced.

I don't know how Octopus structure the fees/charges

Looking at what is posted, my standing charge is about 13p per day cheaper. But peak rate is 1.5/2p dearer. So overall the posted rates are cheaper than what I have. You only have to use 9 units at peak rate to be better off. We always use 10+ per day.

So taking 15 units as a daily figure

Standing charge. 48p
15x 28p. £4.20

Daily total. £4.68

Figures roundup to help me calculate!

From one post above

Same units , £4.56

Best in N. Ireland is day rate 27.8 Inc tax, night 16.6 but our standing charge is about 10p per day.
