I am not able to close the charging port of my MG ZS EV 2020. I have heard people not being able to open it. And that it can be opened by pulling the cable from inside the bonnet. But what to do if the charging port won't close ? I keep pressing it but it doesn't click like it used to be. I have been driving around with the port open for quite some time now. But i'd really appreciate if some kinda quick fix could help ?

Do you mean the door with the MG logo on? If so then the manual release cable has nothing to do with that - it’s only for releasing the charging plug when it doesn’t unlock on its own. There is a peg on the back of the charging door that sits inside a socket on the car - first make sure the peg hasn’t broken off for some reason, then try squirting WD 40 (or preferably silicone lube) into the socket to see if the mechanism will free itself.

Try using this type of spray, by lubricating the charger flap actuator lock mechanism and locking actuator plunger, with this type of white spray lubricant.
This can also be used to lubricate the door / boot / bonnet hinges and the locking mechanisms on the car.

You have probably checked but I will say it anyway just in case. Another person on here had the same problem and it was just that he was not pushing the rubber socket covers fully in and they were stopping the door from closing enough for the latch to engage, worth a try.

You should also replace both plug covers in order - the bottom oblong one first then the round one as the edges overlap. I always remove both even though I may not be using the CCS type plug.
