Any positive reviews MG ZS EV

As with all forums, people come here with issues., those without them say away.

We have had our ZS TLR since the back end of June last year, and the day after taking delivery had a holiday booked for Cornwall. We used a ABRP to manage our changing stops, (but can be done just as well with the in car satnav or Google/ Apple maps. We had a few teething issues (range anxiety and broken chargers) but apart from that MaGgie performed flawlessly.

Just enjoy, and welcome 👍

Thanks for all the replies....
Dealer checked the car today and it still has the previous owners details bound to it, they're taking it to a local MG dealer who have said they'll get it unlinked.
🤞

As I am aware, the MG dealer is unable to unlink the car themselves.
They will need to contact MG CS service in order to do this.
MG CS will require proof of new ownership etc.

Further to this - they probably don't have a clue what to do. May be worth nudging them that by far the path of least resistance is for them to just require the old owner to delink on the app - it's a 2 second job.

Hi, thanks for the info, I'll give the salesman a couple of days then I'll contact him to see if he managed to sort it.
It's meant to be in the body shop this week getting a minor scuff sorted, they've got a lot to do before collection on Friday am.

I'll put this to the salesman tomorrow morning, if it's a case of a quick call to the previous owner and he can explain the situation it'd be a quick fix.
Thankyou.

And... If they end up not knowing (likely) this is how you do it. It's actually buried quite deep in app and not that obvious or intuitive how to find it.

They login (this is android but likely virtually identical process for apple). Click the top left once logged in.Pic1

You get this screen. Click the car icon. Pic2

Then, obviously, unbind (pic3).

I'll shut up now!

No please don't shut up... All this could be valuable information, especially if they don't know how to do it.
What a great forum, everyone is so helpful and have a lot of knowledge.
Thankyou

This is by far the best option as I have already said previously in this thread, however it sounds like a third party seller and therefore has taken in the car without asking the previous owner to disconnect from the car.
However, the buyer must have contact details from the seller surely ???.

Just a bit of an update, the car has been to an MG dealer today who has apparently unbound the previous owner from the car. We shall see tomorrow when I pick it up.
Oh and while they had it plugged in it threw up a fault with the telematics (SOS ecall button faulty) which they'll replace under warranty, the part is on back order and I just have to book the car in to have it fitted.

Collection day tomorrow eeeek.

Sometimes the SOS function can temporary just drop out, but will reconnect if the signal is weak.
This maybe the problem ?.
Good luck tomorrow and enjoy !.

Hi, yeah I've seen a few threads mentioning the signal issue, I'll probably get it replaced when I get chance, peace of mind that its been done.
Thankyou and hopefully I'll love the car.

Another update... Went to the dealership today to pick the MG ZS up and it was still bound to the previous owner 🙄, we waited in the showroom for an hour while they rang MG and had to wait for a call back, they said give it a couple of days and it should be done.
While we were there waiting we had a look at a 23' Renault Megane Etech iconiq, wow what a car, long story short we bought it and drove it home 5 hours later after checks had been done and a full valet.
So glad the MG was still bound to the previous owner.

Thankyou all for your help and advice 👍

I have a private ZS and for work a Renault Megane etech😃
good luck 👍.With the mg i never needed the garage(2 mg’s almost 4 years),unfortunately several times with the renault. It is a very beautiful and nice car, but much smaller than the ZS, our MG gets just as far with its 50 kW battery as the Renault with its 60 kW battery 😃
We love our mg more than the Renault 😊

They did a good job at upselling you there...

"Hey it's going to be a while unbinding this thing, why don't you come over here and sit near this much nicer car..." 😅

Hi all,

I've just ordered a 73' plate MG ZS Trophy Long Range with 1500 miles on the clock, really looking forward to collecting the car (well I was) until I saw all the posts regarding issues/faults with this model. Is there a section for positive vibes/reviews about the car to lift my spirit a bit.

Great forum

Regards

Andy
I've had one for 18 months with no problems I love it.

It is odd how there are such extreme reactions to different cars. I drive a MG ZS gen1, a Mercedes E320 Cdi Estate, and a 4.2L Jaguar XK8 and they are all brilliant cars - but different. Each has its shortcomings and its good points, and I accept them as they are.

Hi Andy
I’ve had my ZS EV Trophy long range since new. I’ve covered 24000 miles and am really enjoying the car. My one real gripe is with the “leather” upholstery which is basically non breathable plastic that gets quite uncomfortable when the weather warms up. I’ve purchased 2 seat covers to help. Apart from that the car has been really good.

I have a 73 ZS ev. Just to warn you to make sure it has the latest software update. If you find faults that cannot be rectified its more than likely that the OBS needs replacing. My car is being returned mainly because of the incompetence of my dealers technician.
I paid for an independent report that suggested all of the 28 software faults had been there since the first day.
Good luck.

Lots of apps and lots of cards. I am in Germany but have a Shell recharge card (amongst 5 others) and an Ionity app on my phone (again amongst others). Paying euro 5.95/month with Ionity gives you .20 cents/kWh off the price. In Germany that makes it .49 cents and in France .39 cents, so if you are on holiday and charging a lot it makes for great savings.

I've had mine since October, have travelled 3500 miles without any issue. It's not the build quality of a Japanese or Korean car, but still good.
Charging wise, I'm yet to charge mine at a pay charger. Get yourself a home charger (I've got a Podpoint) a tariff like the British Gas one gives you 8.95p per kWh, and unless you're doing round trip journeys of more than 220 miles or so, you'll never need to bother.
The payback on the home charger by my reckoning is less than 7000 miles, so well worth the investment (based on high speed chargers costing 60p vs 9p at home, £1000 for the charger, 3.5 miles/kWh).

Hi Andy, when you consider that MG is averaging over 3,000 car sales per month then the number of fault reports is quite low. I bought the ZS Exclusive EV in 2021 and rarely got to drive it until we got my wife the Trophy LR in March 2022. I rarely get to drive the Trophy and I have had 3 years trouble free with my Exclusive. The one occasion when I had to do a long journey without my wife, I used her Trophy and loved it, my exclusive gets 120 -140 motorway driving. I drove from the South coast to Banbury and back without the need to stop and charge. Only problems with both cars has been down to our error i.e. not pressing the brake pedal fully down and then panicing when it doesn't move when you select drive. You only do that sort of thing once, well you may do it more than once but the second time onwards you realise what you did. I treat the inside of the windows with Rainex Anti Fog a couple of times a year and it keeps the condensation down plus we don't have to run the fan so much. I had lots of apps when I first got my EV but within 12 months they weren't really needed as most chargers went contactless. I did sign up with Shell and BP but never actually needed them as we only do perhaps half a dozen trips a year we may have to charge enroute. Great cars for the money and if you have any problems with the car binding then contact Miles Roberts from Chorley Group (he is on FB in at least one of the MG forums) he is really helpful and has sorted out binding issues for lots of people in a matter of hours. Enjoy the car and all the savings especially if you can do most of your charging at home.
