Hi everyone,

May be a simple answer, but….. how do you set & operate the speed limiter on the MG4 (not cruise control, as i know how to use this). Also is the speed limiter automatic, i.e. uses the built in camera to read the road side speed signs.

Thank you in advance!

When you turn the cruise control off in the menus, the speed limiter options become visible. The manual explains the rest I think.

After seeing how bad speed limit recognition was I didn't even try the auto mode, but manual operation works as described.

I have been using the intelligent limiter for a while and couldn't figure out why the speed was limited to 60mph on a dual carriageway where the limit is 70mph. Then I realised that the speed indicator although showing national max speed limit sign it was flashing at 60mph - seems it doesn't recognise that dual carriageway max speeds are more than the max limit on regular roads. Or is this an issue with my trophy?

I would have expected the speed limit sign recognition to be linked to the maps in the Trophy models, I was surprised to learn it is not .
Both the SE and trophy models try to decode speed limit signs.
At times it will recognise motorway speed limits at the point of entry on a slip road leading to a motorway but it’s pretty unreliable.
On the plus side, it helps me stick to the 60mph self imposed limit to increase range

I wouldn't use it. Went through roadworks on dual carriageway which were signed 40mph and the car recognised it however when I popped out the other side it still insisted the speed limit was 40mph for the next 20 miles!! Love the idea in principle.

How does the speedometer work? I have noticed that it is spot on with my phone GPS speed and also spot on with the radar speed signs that display your speed on the side of the roads.

I've noticed the same. However the chances of the speedo being GPS-fed are slim to non-existent. I think they're just very well calibrated rather than significantly over-reading like most do.

If they're just using rotation of the wheel to measure speed I think I've seen it said the speed will be 1.5% different between new and well worn tyres.

Can anyone confirm if this happens ? If not I guess they're doing a slow auto calibration anytime the GPS has very good signals.

Whatever the case, the accuracy makes driving just that little bit easier for me.

The auto calibration would be great. I fitted new tyres recently (different make and model) and the speedometer still reads as before, true to GPS speed.
