Hi have done a search and as said in other posts Miles Roberts stated that this Software Update should be free, my dealer BullDog says they did not know about a free update.

My question: Is there any official statement from MG about this update stating if its free or not, mine is about to go in for its 1st Service.

Regards, Dave

If there are updates due on your car at the time of the service, they should be doing them.

They play silly buggers with the updates. I was told that updates at first service in July 2023 for my TCLR would not cover Tesla compatibility.. As posted before paid £120 for official guaranteed Tesla compatible update that does work without hassle.

I'd be asking for your money back given their latest position on this.

What latest position? where is the evidence?
Do a search - somebody mentioned a bit ago that that the forum's podcast had Miles (an MG sales person that is familiar with the MG business) stating that they weren't charging for it.

I also did not get charged, maybe because I just asked for my car to be fixed rather than getting into an update discussion.

Edit: look at the 1h1m mark in the latest March podcast. Apparently, MG sent a letter to dealers saying it was a free upgrade.

Get a refund I say.

Hi all I have just come across this thread and you appear to be writing about the MGZS EV now that I know nothing about but in the podcast on March the 4th I think it was ability for changing at open to all Tesla units that was concerning the MG5, now a don’t know if the ZS can charge on Tesla SC or not and I don’t recall Miles Robert’s or anyone else saying the ZS came under the same response from MG that covers the MG5.

There’s is a thread that covers this issue on the MG5 it’s called Tesla supercharging on the MG5 and at #472 there is a copy of the Email which explains about it

Bodgerx. Please read my 1st post, I have done a search and I have mentioned Miles & have listen to the podcast, I am just trying to find out if there is an official document or notification anywhere.

Life’s too short. I cannot take the pressure of dealing with useless customer support.
Will get my own back when I choose my next car. Having said that I do like my TCLR.

The vehicle ombudsmen has agreed to arbitrate my case against MG arguing the update required to enable some ZSs to use open Tesla chargers should be free. The ombudsmen agreed to pursue this about a month ago, but heard nothing since. I will update forum members once I have a judgement.

According to the podcast it's a letter sent from MG to the dealers.

But...again: Free update or no free update, let's be clear on this one:

MG messed up in their implementation.

Anybody wanting their car fixed so that it works with Tesla superchargers should be asking for it to be FIXED under warranty. Full stop.

I wasn't charged, and neither should you be.

I wonder if this is why MG have sent the letter out to dealerships? You may be the champion of the underdog here. :)

Well, get back there and make sure they tell you your car has all the updates so far. It makes no sense for one to pick up a car in March 2024 and not have all the previous updates installed.
It's a 2021 ZS exclusive from 3rd party dealership. Does anyone have the latest updated serial no so I can compare them?

My cars booked in to ha a new door lock fitted under warranty, at the same time they are going to update the BMS, EVCC AND OBS modules to allow charging on Tesla charge points under warranty.
