Any positive reviews MG ZS EV

if you have any problems with the car binding then contact Miles Roberts from Chorley Group (he is on FB in at least one of the MG forums) he is really helpful and has sorted out binding issues for lots of people in a matter of hours
Unfortunately MG has prevented Miles from carrying out this function anymore 😞.

It is odd how there are such extreme reactions to different cars. I drive a MG ZS gen1, a Mercedes E320 Cdi Estate, and a 4.2L Jaguar XK8 and they are all brilliant cars - but different. Each has its shortcomings and its good points, and I accept them as they are.
For me all cars yes may have short comings but when you buy a brand new car and it has fault after fault etc and worse still the dealership can’t fix it then at that point it becomes unacceptable. My current car is my 38th and so I’ve had my fair share of ‘experiences’. Despite everything I actually liked my zs ev and as I’ve stated elsewhere to an extent I miss it , but what tipped me over the edge was the appalling attitude towards fixing it form the dealership.

To be fair, I've seen more poor MG4 reviews than the ZS.
EVs don't do well in reviews from auto trader or top gear in the past but it's all about personal preference.
I'm happy with my ZS, even considering keeping it for a few years after the 4 year period.

Hi all,

I've just ordered a 73' plate MG ZS Trophy Long Range with 1500 miles on the clock, really looking forward to collecting the car (well I was) until I saw all the posts regarding issues/faults with this model. Is there a section for positive vibes/reviews about the car to lift my spirit a bit.

Great forum

Andy
Took delivery of ZS EV Trophy long range last October
Apart from setting up phone connection and Sat nav Issues which dealer sorted within 15mins
Had no problems
Only fault in cold weather charge only ever reaches max 240 Miles
however last night because temperature rising achieved 255 Miles
Had Orme home charger fitted and charge up between midnight and 5 am on cheap rate electric
Last long trip started with 233 miles charge, travelled 198 miles and still had 48 miles available
That was with heater on 22degrees fan on 2 and radio on and occasional wipers

You must miss it, you can’t give up hanging around in an MG forum. 🤣

Can i ask in this thread about RFID cards for EV charging?
Which one?
Do I really need one?
Will I end up with 10+ different cards due to the amount of different EV charging companies?

Is there already a thread on this topic

Sorry and thanks again
I found this information useful. You can get one RFID card and add other RFID details for other companies to the one card.

Hi Andy, when you consider that MG is averaging over 3,000 car sales per month then the number of fault reports is quite low. I bought the ZS Exclusive EV in 2021 and rarely got to drive it until we got my wife the Trophy LR in March 2022. I rarely get to drive the Trophy and I have had 3 years trouble free with my Exclusive. The one occasion when I had to do a long journey without my wife, I used her Trophy and loved it, my exclusive gets 120 -140 motorway driving. I drove from the South coast to Banbury and back without the need to stop and charge. Only problems with both cars has been down to our error i.e. not pressing the brake pedal fully down and then panicing when it doesn't move when you select drive. You only do that sort of thing once, well you may do it more than once but the second time onwards you realise what you did. I treat the inside of the windows with Rainex Anti Fog a couple of times a year and it keeps the condensation down plus we don't have to run the fan so much. I had lots of apps when I first got my EV but within 12 months they weren't really needed as most chargers went contactless. I did sign up with Shell and BP but never actually needed them as we only do perhaps half a dozen trips a year we may have to charge enroute. Great cars for the money and if you have any problems with the car binding then contact Miles Roberts from Chorley Group (he is on FB in at least one of the MG forums) he is really helpful and has sorted out binding issues for lots of people in a matter of hours. Enjoy the car and all the savings especially if you can do most of your charging at

I was ‘invited’ to come on here after my you tube review to share my own experiences so don’t worry I won’t be here too long.., especially considering the flack I’ve experienced because I dare share said experience 😂

I just thought it was odd you joined when you sold the car. I like hearing about negatives, I never knew about the rear seats so I’ll treat them like a baby if I ever fold them down.

Yes please do (re the seats). I actually enjoyed my ZS ev for the three weeks it was working as expected. I’m sure one day a company of SAIC size will be able to not only produce a car thats not got so many component issues but also back the cars up with a suitable after sales experience.

I have the same car as you had, same colour. Gosh did you only get 3 weeks before it went downhill. Yes quality needs to improve but the car cost me 20k on paper so I didn’t expect it to be “German quality”

Well done if that’s all it cost then…I brought it new and lost £15.5k in 12 months.

Into my third year now, 40k and have saved an absolute fortune compared to my old Ice ( Ohme/Octopus home charger, rarely use public chargers ). Front tyres changed at 36k, rear still has loads of tread left, service costs next to nothing and a pleasure to drive, no issues todate.

Infotainment absolute junk, lumpy, sticky, totaly user unfriendly.

As mentioned.... most people only post issue/problems. You see this on any car forums. I transitioned from a Leaf 24 to a ZSEV Gen1 and now a ZSEV Gen2 LR. I've had very few issue - the only one with the current ZS is Amazon Music which for some reason even though I can play tunes at home with the same Amazon account... in the car it just says tune not available or something like that for anyone I choose. As I tend to use BBC Sounds it's not an issue. The added range compared to the Gen1 ZS is brilliant. The timed windows are something that was missing on the Gen1 and even in the UK it's really needed. The Gen 1 tended to have sticky mirrors. Not had that issue with Gen 2. The infotainment screen is not brilliant but a hell of an improvement over the Gen1. All in all... I'm happy

Hi Andy
I have the MG ZS EV trophy long range, and it is a cracking motor car, acceleration is impressive, I love the braking, when you take your foot of the accelerator it slows the car and puts energy into the battery, for the money it has way more than its fair share of mod/cons. handles great, and is a comfortable ride.
My only gripe is the parcel shelf comes up to a height, that lines up nicely with my forehead, i am constantly bang my bonce on it! - nicest feature for me is remotely warming the seats and clearing the screen on a frosty morning while i am eating my cornflakes. it also has a pretty effective vehicle tracker built in should it ever get nicked!
Great car!
