Frunk heat

There’s an Irish company that is making frunks for many models. There should be a Zs EV version this month.

Do you have a link or company name?
I feel like this is a missed opportunity to use that space because designers are still working with ICE engines in mind. But maybe there's safety concerns in case of an accident?

Good to hear, what's the realistic range please for the LR. Agonising over whether the new ZS is worth the extra £6k it would cost us over a LR 5. The dreaded roof rail issue was a deal breaker but now that's resolved weighing up options. Thanks
For a camping trip with 2 adults, a teenager, a car loaded to the hilt and a roofbox on I managed the 170 mile trip from Ormskirk to Dumfries in 11 degree weather and sticking to 60 on the motorways with about 20-30 miles still in the battery.

Oh - and waded up to the numberplate on the way back (didn't have a lot of other options if I wanted to get home)...

Stopped for a top up on the way home. Probably could have made it without but it was colder, wetter, and we all wanted food anyway.

Fully loaded, similar to @AnonymouseDriva's post, I managed 3.0 miles/kWh when sitting at 65mph ACC on motorway for 275 miles. This improved once I started doing A & B road journeys and suitcases out of the roofbox.

Not having seen the You Tube vid. yet, I assume the box is installed under the cover in the enormous space above the motor? Has anyone made an opening in their cover yet, a bit like a trapdoor I would imagine?

I have seen that the cover is just taken off and a large tub dropped in this a ZS but you can do similar things on the 5

The 'frunk' has a potentially very useful space, many plastic boxes will fit, but is it Ok to run without the 'decorative cover' in place? Does it keep water out, sounds in, or do anything useful?

After changing my light bulbs for LEDs (yes, yes I know) I haven't replaced the cover and all seems well so far.

I think its intended purpose is to dissuade owners from tinkering.

If you do use it, don't forget to check there before you take it back to the dealer to look at the "new rattling noise from the front" :)

I found a multistorey car park with 4 free Pod point chargers, so removed the type2 cable from the frunk and connected up while we went through the town to an art exhibition followed by lunch and walk along the sea front. On returning to the car 6 hours later I stopped the charge unhooked the cable and went to put it back in the frunk but found that the 'engine' bay cover was very warm.
I normally charge overnight on my 5p Go tariff so have never noticed this heat before and othe 7.5kwh charge sessions have only been a couple of hours.
I was just a bit concerned about the heat generated from the on board charger as I was thinking of putting a plastic box under the bonnet like others have done.
Has anyone had this type of heat being generated?
Yes, I have found the same on my MG5 when charging using my 7kw home charger. Only noticed it once as there was an electrical burning smell which I noticed and then touched the charging plug at the car end which was also warm, plus the bonnet and plastic engine cover around the bonnet latch. But only noticed it once when I want out to check the charge progress. Not noticed it since.

EV Accessories Ireland make frunks for many cars.

Just seen this for the ZS would be really interested

Great news but this is the MG5 forum, are they making them for the MG5 too, or should we just be jealous 😜
