    MG4 in Australia

I think it’s a software bug. The usb port doesn’t seem to be being re-initialised on power up. The port is still powered it’s just not allowing data flow ie the ‘handshake’ comms between the dongle and the head unit. Unless of course you pull the usb cable or hit the power switch on the usb...

    Wireless CarPlay Adapter connectivity

From what I’ve seen with various posts about Carlink, it appears to behave a lot better than the Ottocast in that regard.

    MG4 in Australia

The only downside is the wear/ potential damage on the usb port over time. A usb switch is a cheaper ‘sacrificial’ option. I was doing the same until it started to annoy me, the switch is way simpler.

    Wireless CarPlay Adapter connectivity

I have just setup an Ottocast with a usb line with an on/off switch for Apple CarPlay. Works perfectly, thanks for posting your suggestion. Pretty cheap option from eBay …just has to have data & power.

    MG4 in Australia

For anyone having issues with wireless CarPlay dongles in MG4 not reconnecting after power off. The simplest solution is a usb cable with an inline on/off switch. Plug the usb switch line into car usb port, the CarPlay adaptor into the other end of the usb line. When you hop in or out of the car...

MG4 SE SR (Excite 51) one pedal & rear end ‘bump’ ?

I’ve been keeping an eye out to see if the car goes into “P” when I get the bump. Mine doesn’t, it’s still in ‘hold’ the green A with green rings around it.

MG4 SE SR (Excite 51) one pedal & rear end ‘bump’ ?

Ahhh I hadn't noticed the red "P" coming on, I'll look out for that now that you mention it. I'm just glad someone knew what I was talking about 😂. It was a bit of a difficult one to describe if you haven't experienced it.

MG4 SE SR (Excite 51) one pedal & rear end ‘bump’ ?

I’ve noticed that going into ‘one pedal’, the rear drive (motor?) seems to ‘tighten up’ the drive train, trying To work out if it’s an effect of being in max regen in this mode. Once stationary and in ‘hold’ mode after about a minute the rear end seems to relax with a gentle bump. Feels like...

Abnormal invasion into your vehicle (***262)

I get that same error if i have a Bluetooth OBD2 transmitter plugged into the diagnostics port. If I lock the car with it inserted and give it 10mins, the alarm will go off and I get that message in my iSmart app. Your car ‘smarts’ might be doing the same thing, objecting to what it considers...

MG Australia - software update to bring one-pedal driving to a batch of MG 4 electric hatchbacks. Thoughts?

I’ve had my Excite 51 for 2 weeks, it came with one pedal already installed.

12v dead battery and wife locked in the car! - Welcome home!!

This is a bit off topic. Just wondering about the manual re charging different types of batteries. I thought that lithium iron phosphate needed 'balancing' ie slow charging to 100% periodically, but ternary batteries ( as in the LR EV's) didn't. I don't know that the manual addresses both...

    Wireless CarPlay Adapter connectivity

When you say ‘manually’ , do you mean using the key fob ? That is how I’ve always opened it with no Carplay joy to date.

    MG4 Range

I've had my Excite 51 for just over a week now and I'm getting 410kms / full charge. So far I've done just shy of 900kms and the efficiency is very good. For my situation at least I feel MG have undersold the efficiency of the vehicle. At roughly 108kms/hr on the Gold Coast expressway I'm...

    Wireless CarPlay Adapter connectivity

I recently bought an Ottocast U2-Air form Amazon. It has the same not connecting issue after power up of the head unit. Works perfectly on initial setup, but then refuses to reconnect after initial connection. Unplug and re-plug the usb and it works again. I've updated the dongle firmware to the...

    Can't play videos.

Is it only the infotainment USB port that can be used for play back of movies? I've tried the USB-C port, the usb stick gets scanned but the system doesn't find the .mp4 files that are all in the root directory. There are about 5 movies on it. It could be limited to a max file size 🤔
