Is the windscreen athermic/metallic coated on the MG4 Trophy EV (phase 2)?

Just to resolve this query, I can confirm that my Emovis TAG worked perfectly on the French motorways as before - so presumably no athermic glass on my MG4 ER

    Charging across Europe

I remember it well! Our route almost exactly, as far as Angoulême N10, where we always set off cross-country towards Tarbes. I suspected as much, and it was only around 15C most of the time - but good to hear from experience ... and we're not in a hurry these days, so speed isn't that...

    Charging across Europe

Bonnie Tyler ... Lost in France ? - but hopefully not on Day I, if you're going in that direction (or any time come to that)! BTW Had a pretty faultless trip down to SW France three weeks ago. Just one Tesla SC that wouldn't work due to no signal (E of Rouen and in the middle of an industrial...

    Space-saver spare wheel queries ...

AN UPDATE … which may perhaps assist others: After all the debate about fitting sizes and possible calliper issues, I decided to follow the predominant advice and ordered from the Wheel Shop their 16” ‘ZS EV’ space-saver, plus brace etc. (which was indeed listed as fitting ZS 16”, 17” and 18”...

    Space-saver spare wheel queries ...

Good thinking ... but needs someone more technical than I.

    Space-saver spare wheel queries ...

I was on the point of ordering one of these, but took another brief look at their specific 17" spare for the MG4 (for which they charge an extra £30) just to see if there were anything obviously different apart from rim size (all being OK to sub for 18" rims). The only thing that did stick out...

    Charging across Europe

That's really interesting to know. I've now looked them up and they certainly have the right approach. Although they seem to have opened that first one back in July '23, they do seem to be actively searching for sites throughout France. In fact that one is not very far (20km west but in the...

Pics of other cars you've had.🙂

No - not a 2CV, but an up-market Dyane for the "kids'" (now 47 and 50!) first day at new school ... ... and regrettably not mine either (and perhaps a bit off OP's subject) - although I was fortunate to get a ride in it in 1976, including a 'racing start' into a near right-angled bend taken...

    Charging across Europe

"... an athermic windscreen always has an area of normal glass around the rear-view mirror ..." I do understand fully your reasoning - and indeed how athermic glass works - but forgive me for being a trifle more cautious in wishing to ask MG for a simple assurance that "always" applies equally...

    Charging across Europe

Thanks. It was the large number of MG4s we keep seeing in France that stimulated my interest in modern MG EVs. I suppose my main concern is that the newer UK 4 ERs have a slightly different spec to the EU (most annoyingly, the downgrade to a 7kWh o/b charger that renders the plethora of valuable...

    Charging across Europe

I've only just picked up on this interesting thread - the more so your comment about the Via tag. I have been using a French tag for years but have only just got my first EV - a late 2023 new model MG4 ER. I'm a bit suspicious of the car's windscreen having a slight athermic-like tinge (but no...

Tyre pressure display in kpa (kilopascals) not Bar

That appears more than likely to me too (but, siteguru, perhaps models/software versions differ?) . My display readings seem always divisible by 4. I went round them all yesterday with my fairly good (I think) Wolf pump, which has many alternative scales, and it read completely different figures...

Tyre pressure display in kpa (kilopascals) not Bar

Thanks - and yes, I do recognise the increased accuracy of kpa over bar; it's just the inconsistency that's a trifle annoying. But, oh! for good old psi - my 'standard' for the past 60-odd years, but that doesn't register anywhere on my car, that I can see. Yes; I've flicked back and forth...

Tyre pressure display in kpa (kilopascals) not Bar

When I collected the car, the tyre pressure monitor showed readings in kpa. Everywhere in documentation etc., Bar readings are shown and quoted. I can so far see/find nowhere in settings or manually switching to change this 'annoyance'. I am aware that it is only a question of moving two decimal...

    XPower - is it nickable?

Quite remarkable! - I got exactly the same response when I tried a few days ago ... but I didn't see you there! So what's so special to MG about Brussels, I wonder???

    XPower - is it nickable?

Can I assume by 2FA you are referring to two-factor authentification - the totally necessary but equally horrible bain of our present times? If so then - whilst I fully respect and certainly don't quibble with your reasoning in life today - it has to be viewed as one of the most incredible...

    XPower - is it nickable?

Thanks all; now I understand the concern ... I'm afraid I'm new to this level of modern technology in order to get into one's car - and certainly to the 'sophisticated' level of thievery used these days. Perhaps simplest is for us to move the key tray farther away from the front hall, and/or...

    XPower - is it nickable?

I understood from the MG manual that the keys had to be within 1.5mtrs of the car for the keyless operation to work. This thread sounded a bit concerning, so I've just made a very unscientific check by moving my keys towards the car, and mine didn't indeed work until almost exactly 1.5 mtrs from...

Not impressed how rusty this is about to become.

If it's 'stainless' steel and is made in China, it is very likely to go rusty in a short space of time. It is a sad fact but has been my experience over many years and with a wide range of products from outside lights to BBQ accessories ... or almost anything else you can name.

Custom personal route planning and/or Garmin Basecamp with MG4

I’m grateful to you both for your input – thanks – and so felt I needed to look into ABRP once again. Unfortunately, though, after much experimenting today, I find I fail at the first hurdle – and that is trying to persuade it to accept the Tesla Supercharger at Eurotunnel – which would be my...
