Testing the Mg5 standard range to the limit

Great work! At what point (%) did the tortoise 🐢 sign come on and what does the car do in tortoise mode? I’ve never had the nerve to go that far!

Dead 12v battery - any help and advice please?

30 month old MG5. 45k miles. I had a thing that I believe (from the AA man) is a regular problem. I had “radio initialising” problem. Radio was left on one dab channel no control. Left it 3 days whilst I was away. When I came back totally flat. It had been drained by this fault. Anyway recharged...

What energy providers are people going to change to?

I'm on OVO and just letting the fixed price contract run out to go on the standard tariff of... They are desperate for me to fix a plan but they are crazy so why would I? Look at the standing charge. Two year fixed is or 1yr fixed is

    Using Economy Mode.

Except unfortunately, a battery is not a linear power source. Taking power out faster reduces the total stored energy faster than at a slower speed. This addition energy loss outweighs any savings made from getting to the destination quicker resulting in reduced range.

    Help: Rapid chargers nightmare

I reckon this is not locking the car. I'd try turning off and locking. Seems to be the car saying "No Thanks" to the charger during the handshake. At MOTO in Rugby this week I opened the car and the charging session just stopped! It then restarted again. Never had that happen anywhere so I asume...

My Miles/Kwh is not looking great!

Always going to be bad at beginning and end. This is a typical curve of these batteries. I'm sure the software for the figures displayed on the dash makes some allowances for this but I dont think its totally linear. Which is why I always try and keep 10% in the tank to prevent sweaty hands...

    First public charging experience

Honestly I have been driving for a year now and only queued once. Over time you will learn your favourite and most reliable charging company. I love Gridserve InstaVolt and Osprey. Occasionally GeniePoint and BP Pulse if pushed. I use Zap Map premium subscription on Car Play. Recommended...

    Another question from a newbie

Basically comes down to the cost difference between 1 and 3 phase chargers. They keep the price of the car down by saving money on things like this. That’s why I love the car though. The price/performance is just right for me.

BP Pulse "going electric" with a petrol recharging van. What a joke.

Is 60/300 electrifying the fleet though? My issue is with the PR spin I suppose.

BP Pulse "going electric" with a petrol recharging van. What a joke.

So BP Pulse is "going electric" by getting vans with 60 mile EV range and a back up petrol charger to recharge the batteries. Have you ever heard anything so ridiculous and dishonest as a PR headline? BP pulse picks LEVC to electrify fleet What an appaling and short sighted way for a company...

Anyone tried ZapMap Premium to get Apple CarPlay?

Yes, at first I was sceptical. I did a weeks trial of the plus. Couldn’t believe it didn’t cover CarPlay. I moaned at them and stopped using it. I then tried a months Premium which is the subscription with CarPlay. I do 600 or so miles a week and having the live charger status on the display...

How low can (will) you go with your charge level?

Pretty good/brave stuff. Still waiting to find out what happens at 0 energy! Limp towards a stop (to get off the motorway) or stop stop?

How low can (will) you go with your charge level?

I'm curious if anyone is braver than me and tested out the MG5 range towards the bottom end of the charge levels? I drive across country regularly on a 195 mile route, and have always erred on the side of caution and filled up halfway. With the summer, I have been trying out driving further...
