    PlanMyService LLP Heads Up

Just a heads up as I haven't seen it on here... I had a service plan with Thompson First MG, manage by PlanMyService LLP. I knew Thompson First had gone into liquidation but it turns out so did their service plan company on 11th October. They were still collecting my Direct Debit but I had no...

    How Secure Are MG Cars?

I've found that scratching a gate catch down each side of the car while reversing, and scratching and crunching all four corners of the car really helps keep the thieves away. It also makes sure the residual value of the car is rock bottom, and who wouldn't want that?!?! 😭

    Check my firmware

Holy Software Update Batman, the R17 moved the steering wheel to the left!

    Tyres (original fit)

I suspect you are more gentle on the accelerator pedal than me, and certainly more than my wife as we find them all too easy to spin up!

    Octopus Intelligent Go

Amazing, thank you. I’ve removed my schedules and I’ll have a go at that later.

LFP: Battery heater engaged at 97% on granny charger in subzero temperatures

I’m talking about battery heating to get that last 2%, it sounds like it took quite a while to get those last 1.234kWh of power into the battery and most probably a lot more electrons for a tiny bit extra range.

    Octopus Intelligent Go

I can’t get the octopus app to link to my myenergi account, Octopus say to disable any other apps that control the charger…did you disable the MyEnergi App? I’m using a Zappi and an original MG5 Excite.

LFP: Battery heater engaged at 97% on granny charger in subzero temperatures

I think I would have stopped at 98% as you are using a ton of electricity to get an extra 2% you said you didn’t need.

    MG5 Steering - a concern or not?

I had this same issue, never noticed it before and haven’t changed the tires our pressures, as you say only while doing motorway speeds but it was very frustrating.

Anyone tried the V4 Superchargers in Tottenham?

I see that Tesla have opened their first V4 superchargers and these are designed to work with any CCS car…I wondered if that includes the humble MG5? I know they are blocked from other Superchargers for being too slow to respond!

    Windshield fogging

Isn’t this a problem with all modern cars? They are so well insulated that they fog up really easily?

    Solar + Zappi + MG4 = 😊

The pension pot argument kinda makes sense, but don’t wait for the tech to evolve as you’ll always be 2 years away from making the leap. The efficiency of batteries, solar and heat pumps make sense now, yea they will be better in 5 years but that’ll be 5 years of paying for fossil fuel premium...

    Tyres (original fit)

For the first six months of ownership my wife couldn't pull away without spinning the tyres, so that would have had an effect for sure!

    Tyres (original fit)

Having just had to change my fronts at 19k after the tracking went out and I ended up with them worn down on the outer edge. I just got them changed like for like but they were £125 each! I’ll be keen to see you results.

Do we need an S option ?

I still use the S mode from time to time as the response is fun. However I also made the mistake of putting it in Sports mode after some light rain and, while waiting at the lights, didn’t realise one of my front tyres was on a wet man-hole cover! First and only time I’ve smelt my own rubber!

    Ancestral connection

Too true, creative design costs. But the MG5 does okay in its thoroughly mundane styling. However The MG4 does look good even on a budget.

    Ancestral connection

That's the most dull range of cars ever! I'll kid myself that it's roots are really with the OP 1953 model!

    Roof box range effect?

Thanks for noticing that :) I don't think there is a restriction as the problem isn't with the roof itself...that needs to be strong enough to roll! The problem is the runners, which don't seem that strong, which is part of the reason we didn't go for them.

    Roof box range effect?

I've not quite got to the point of not being able to push the speed limit a bit, one day I will reach such a level of enlightenment, maybe by the next camping trip...

    Roof box range effect?

Thanks for the replies, I was expecting 20% loss so if anything this sounds better :) However I was only getting 3.6m/kWh on the motorway when fully loaded so we won’t be getting great efficiency!
