Exactly, ur just as likely to get rear ended by braking hard and late in an ICE. Anticipate more and ease off slowly earlier

Why would the brake lights come on under regen? Surely KERS is the equivalent of engine braking in an ICE vehicle and brake lights don’t come on in a petrol/diesel if you take ur foot off the accelerator

If this is true why does the battery need an equalisation charge (which only happens after a full slow charge) required regularly to maximise battery life?

Where is this info from? If it is advisable to keep the battery between 20-80% why is an equalisation charge (which only happens after the battery is 100% charged) required to maximise battery life?
