Should a MG5 Long range be changed 100%

Yeah, the M/KwH display is your friend here. . What are you getting at the moment? As for reducing it, the same rules apply as trying to improve your MPG in an ICE car. Basically, slower, safer and more sensible driving. Leave enough distance to avoid unnecessary/harsh braking, Gentler...

Should a MG5 Long range be changed 100%

General advice on here (and in the manual) is that it should be charged to 100% at least once a month to allow the cells to balance. Bear in mind that there is some headroom already and the battery management system handles that. Although your dashboard might say '100%', that doesn't...

    Unsure

Things that are in the news are things that happen rarely enough to be newsworthy. (or fit an agenda...) You'll notice there's not a lot of focus in the news on the car that started the fire in Luton Airport as it wasn't electric... I remember watching a comparison (might have been top gear)...

    eCall System Fault

Same here. Only had it a couple of times in 2 years, and also believed it to be signal-related. If you give it 5 minutes (and maybe move a bit...) you'll see the little lite on the e-call thing go green and the message will disappear from the alerts section on the dash.

August sales and Octopus Intelligent lobbying!

they did trial a tariff called Octopus Go Faster. (I was on it). The idea was to stagger the times a bit so you could be allocated a slot starting at between around 20:30 and sometime after midnight (I can't remember the limit). They also allowed you to pick a 3, 4 or 5-hour window with a...

Dashcams - any successful installations or wise advice?

Hi all. Late to the party, but I have a pre-FL 5LR. I fitted a Viofo front and rear dashcam and that has no impact on the LKA / ACC functions for me. The rear camera does affect DAB reception though, and I've seen other posts suggesting that's the same for others. It's not that it's stuck...

The car as a person - or possibly a pet

Yep, I also drive an 'Ernie'. No doubt for exactly the same reason!

    Speed Limit Sign Recognition

Yeah, I raised this with the garage not long after I got my 5 (LR Exclusive pre-facelift) back in September '21. Their (Chorely MG) demo model did the same thing. I assumed this would eventually get back to MG and be fixed in a software update at the service. Clearly not... Not only does it not...

    Battery heater option in settings

I'm Pre-facelift 5LR Exclusive (bought sept '21) with the KERS update (and the intelligent speed assist that crashes when it sees a 20MPH sign). Battery heater switches back off after a second or so. (after trying this morning). Pretty sure it didn't do that when the car was new. Bear in mind...

    Battery heater option in settings

My understanding was that the 'Battery heater ALWAYS on' setting was basically an option between being always on, and being automatic (i.e. it'll heat the battery anyway if you're on a rapid charger and it's cold). Can't find what documentation led me to that though., and can't spot anything in...

    MG5 Battery Degradation?

Could be wrong, but I think that went away when they did the KERS brake light update. it doesn't DO KERS 3 when full, but lets you switch to that mode now and it kicks in as the battery drops a bit.

Does anyone actually use Speed Assist on the 5LR?

in and out. (low mileage service). No updates outstanding, AA renewed.

Does anyone actually use Speed Assist on the 5LR?

Yeah, I'm talking UK specs. Didn't notice you were on the continent. are you in the new shape too then?

    Roof box range effect?

but late to the party here, but for my last camping trip (last October) with a full car, roofbox (5LR so loaded up!) cool weather and wet roads I got about 3.2m/kwh keeping to 60 on the motorways. Also - there's a lot of chat on here about the roof rail saga, but I notice OP has the excite...

Does anyone actually use Speed Assist on the 5LR?

Check the CC stalk. I fell for that with the test drive model and it took me and the sales guy a short while to figure that out. Push the CC stalk right back so that Cruise Control is completely off. It won't let you activate the speed assist function when the stalk is in the cruise control...

Seeing more and more EVs around - very rarely a MG

Yeah, mostly Teslas and E-trons around our way, plus a couple of vans (Merc I think, just saw the green flash on the numberplate) Plus one other MG5 that parks at the local train station...

Type? Mine is listed as EP22 on the V5C. Is that the same as the standard range?

    All electric house.

from Octopus: "It’s your energy supplier’s job to remove your gas meter and make sure the incoming gas supply is capped. Right now, because we get so few requests, we offer this service for free. Once the meter has been removed and the supply has been capped, you won’t have to pay a daily...

    Hypervolt charging an MG5LR

I have a 5LR and a hypervolt. I believe the car tells the charger how much power to provide, not the other way round. I haven't really seen it obviously spend time doing a balance charge (other than the rate dropping for the last 15 nimute slot). I haven't sat and watched the display either. I...
