    Committing suicide plugging in...

I can't unplug mine while it's charging thankfully. It could also cause sparking and erosion of the contact pins. So at least they've got that part right.

    Committing suicide plugging in...

Yes I realise. It's just so funny what the manual says. In some areas I would imagine only being able to use the car a few times a year. Like the West coast of Scotland. Unless you can charge under cover of course. I mean on the one hand we have a people that have companies that don't seem to be...

    Committing suicide plugging in...

Our user manuals (yes, I've actually read a fair bit of it) tell us not to attempt charging our vehicles whilst it it raining or if we might stand in water (presumably snow and ice counts). Of course, we have to take this with a pinch of salt - oh, wait a minute that will make us even more...

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

This is the first answer I've heard that makes sense. I presumed that all headlight units were completely sealed for when engine cleaning took place and there was the possibility of water ingress. I now have to retract everything I've said and become humble again instead of pig-headed. My...

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

If that's the case condensate shouldn't form and no need for bags but...

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

It's a vicious circle. Condense, heat, evaporate, repeat. There's nowhere for the moisture to go if the units are sealed against water ingress.

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

My God... Can't understand the logic. If the bags become saturated they're useless. Not that I'm an expert in headlamps but I've never heard of this outstanding inventiveness used in a headlamp unit. Binoculars, telescopes, cameras and all things optical where low amounts of humidity might be...

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

I've changed bulbs back to originals and I still have a big dark patch on the road in front of the driver's side. Something definitely not right. I must have a look further into the headlight unit to see if there is something else interfering with the light distribution. As it stands, is awful...

    Android auto not working well

This is a 1 series, Exclusive trim, June 2021. It should be the same on yours unless Bluetooth has been upgraded which should 'theoretically' be more compatible.

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

Just found a video explaining the working of the projector headlamp and it would seem the bags I found are covering part of the reflector bowl that is needed for light output.

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

I believe one day we will all have implants or gene splicing to give our eyes the ability to see as well as cats do in the dark and we won't need bright lights shining the way ahead...

    Android auto not working well

I'm surprised you had problems with a Samsung as it along with Pixel phones are thought to be the most compatible with Android Auto. Glad you had some success though.

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

The bags are big enough that they could 'theoretically' get in front of a lamp. You did ask for a worst case scenario. I have been a departmental safety advisor in my lifetime and having to look at all possibilities is something I have been trained to do. Do you/anyone else have these bags in...

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

You can't see them because they are behind the behind/underneath the lamps behind the projector lens. You can't see anything behind one of these lenses.

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

Bag gets stuck in from of lamp and blocks light when driving. Bag catches fire due to heat from lamp (don't know what the bag material is but feels like a woven plastic). Both of these scenarios could be potentially life threatening if they were to cause an accident. There were certainly dark...

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

I've just spoken to dealer service and they agreed it was a mistake at production or something. Anyway, as another member has said, once the silica gel has become saturated there is no way to dry it out automatically and moisture would build up anyway. The headlight design is very very bad in...

    Android auto not working well

Update... My user manual states both USB outlets under dash are data. This is wrong or one does not work. I had at some point disconnected from one socket and stuck the cable in the other without thinking. I blame myself for not checking the other socket before complaining as this socket works...

Headlamps have moisture absorbing bags within them...

I totally agree with your comments and reasoning. It's a risk I'm willing to take for a lamp with similar shape of light on the road but brighter and in my humble opinion, safer. I did wonder about the logic in leaving the bags in the units and thought it was a mistake on the production line...
