Charging Port Light - Your Thoughts ?.

At least with the wardrobe you can climb in to see if the light actually turns off. ;)

    MG not honouring orders

Simon Was that a cut and paste from the original email or did you retype it? It's hard to believe that such an unprofessional email was sent to customers of a large dealership, regardless of the SPAG.

    Public charge protocol

Those are "fast" chargers that give a maximum of 7.2kW, or about 25miles each hour. If you are in Keynsham then parking is restricted to 2 hours so take care. The Lidl nearer the centre of Warmly has a 50kW Rapid that may be more appropriate.

It makes you wonder whether the PDI is much more than a wash and fit the wheel trims.

    Digital Key

A bit of both. The creation of the key requires a data connection but it can be used via BT. So imagine that you are parked in an underground carpark with no data connection then you need to create the key when connected to data before going back to the car. But how this would work somewhere...

Existing dealer order and panoramic roof

So does that mean that it was MG UK's decision to drop the panoramic roof rather than SAIC?

    Plastic Wheel Trim

To my eye the standard alloys look cheap.

    Plastic Wheel Trim

No, the whole point is that they look sportier. Steel is stronger and tends to deflect rather than cracking, so for road wheels which have to take abuse are lighter. For the top end of motorsports Magnesium alloy forgings are the lightest.

    Disappointing journey home

Some Rapid chargers are limited by load sharing with the location - in this case the store. Some are also modular and some modules may have failed - I'd suspect that this is the issue for that charge point. To be honest 2x 7kW AC charge points would make more sense (or 7x if 50kW is available)...

Is it a LR or SR? Can you tell.

In terms of weight or actually in terms of the battery size?

    RE: Buying MK1 Exclusive

That's a big if. More likely the Truss Government will start taxing EVs rather than subsidising them.

ZS EV SR Trophy not charging on DC but ok on AC

Yes and No. Most are a rare model of Zoë which amounted to about 5% of the sales of that car with a mix of 22kWh and 41kWh batteries - it was more expensive and shorter range than the standard ones. I would question how many of them are being used for regular long road trips. My guess is that...

ZS EV SR Trophy not charging on DC but ok on AC

AC 43kW is virtually dead - it was mainly a Renault thing where instead of having a dedicated on board charger they cleverly used the motor windings for the voltage conversion. But in newer models they have moved away from that (there are noise and efficiency issues) and are using conventional...

    Transporting a new MG

The car needs to be on to keep the handbrake off. It doesn't regen in Neutral but a reverse EMF is generated that if you go to fast could theoretically damage the motor and control gear. At winching speed it'll be fine.

POLL: Which route should I take on my 1st long range journey?

True, but speed is a range killer. The motorway route isn't the best going around Manchester and the M6.

Things not to like on the new ZS EV

Chademo is truly the Betamax standard, vastly superior but done down by commercial pressure exerted by the rival inferior system. You just have to read this forum to see the ongoing issues with CCS not to mention the absence of a workable V2G standard for it. So the EU and the German car...

POLL: Which route should I take on my 1st long range journey?

Ignore all of that unless you are pushing the absolute limit of the range. Just drive sensibly and not like a twit, you'll get a much more enjoyable start/end to the holiday. On the way back don't worry about starting with a full battery, aim to splash and dash somewhere like Skipton if you go...

POLL: Which route should I take on my 1st long range journey?

Booth's Windermere has 4 Instavolts, not cheap but reliable. Otherwise there's no need to stop apart from comfort. Frankly I'd trundle along the direct route through the Forest of Bowland and get to my destination first, then charge later whilst taking a little trip out to explore Windermere as...
