I frequently use Hill Hold in hilly stop start traffic, makes driving so easy. To pull away you need to press the accelerator pedal very gently initially for a very smooth take off.
Once I got a smaller 16GB usb key and formatted it FAT32 before putting it in the car the update went smoothly. I think the instructions are in the infotainment system manual on my early standard range 5.
Key warning appeared a few times whilst I was out this morning so changed the battery following the simple instructions in the handbook without any problems and car still functioning as it should.
It's a 2021 standard range MG5, I've never heard anyone else mention this alert before. Will be keeping an eye open for it reappearing over the next few weeks.
Cheers, will make sure I have some in stock. 👍
Loading the car up yesterday with the key in my pocket. When I got in the car to drive off a warning flashed up on the screen; low key battery warning. I've never seen this before and it disappeared after a few seconds. I wouldn't think the battery is low as ths car was serviced about 3 months...
Yes exactly the same issue on our 2021 SR MG5, seems worse in colder weather which suggests a dodgy shock absorber or Bush. Will make some enquiries with my favourite dealer when I have time.
Also had our car 2 years and rapidly came to the conclusion that drive mode/KERS setting makes no difference to efficiency. ECO might help stretch the last percentage of battery when running low but the throttle response is so horribly woolly I'd rather resort to my feather light right foot 😁
Our similar car will be heading there next month for the same, apart from the brake fluid, and like you I shall be heading off for a walk. Hopefully I can wangle it so there is a steam locomotive special running that day :)
After a period of faffing about with various settings in the first couple of months ownership I came to the conclusion that nothing seemed to make much difference so always drive in the default settings with a feather like foot and virtually never use the brakes. I just enjoy driving the 5 and...
Did a 170 mile journey in our early SR 5 last week. I always drive in the default drive and KERS settings but on one particularly steep 30mph descent at the end I slipped into KERS3, forgot to change back it when I parked up. Next time I drove it I was astonished to see KERS3 was still set...
Exactly the conclusion I've come to with our MK1 standard range; 2 miles/% is a good general guide most of the year. Equally faffing about with Eco mode and KERS3 doesn't really seem to make much difference, though of course the GOM dubiously shows more range in Eco mode.
We have had a MK1 Excite since mid 2021 and I have come to not take much notice of the GOM or m/kWh, the battery percentage seeming to be pretty accurate. Having said that I did a 4.2 mile return journey last week; downhill gently out and heavily laden return. As I parked up 1% just tripped, a...
Going back to when I first raised this issue with MG in 2021; I found out what level of negative G was required by law to activate the brake lights then downloaded a free accelerometer app to my phone and carried out a test in KERS 3. MG then confirmed the result and the update was available...
Yes this is a major oversight and the only thing I can fault the car on after nearly 2 years of ownership. Even our previous Skoda Fabia hatchback had 4 securing loops in the boot.
