Tesla Charging Update, ZS EV, Free or Not Any Official Guide?

Nothing new to report. Still waiting for Motor Ombudsman to initiate the arbitration it's agreed to conduct.. I've chased them but no response to that either.

Tesla Charging Update, ZS EV, Free or Not Any Official Guide?

The vehicle ombudsmen has agreed to arbitrate my case against MG arguing the update required to enable some ZSs to use open Tesla chargers should be free. The ombudsmen agreed to pursue this about a month ago, but heard nothing since. I will update forum members once I have a judgement.

    Tesla Supercharging

I'm not sure I would describe MGUK as greedy. They want c.£100 for the necessary update to the EVCC so the extra income can only be marginal. I would describe them more as incompetent, short sighted and lacking any genuine commitment to existing customers. In my case at least I would never buy...

    Tesla Supercharging

Of course it's the dealer charging, but only because MG won't reimburse them for the cost of the update. Not sure why the MG4 situation is relevant to a ZS. The MG4 was compatible with Tesla chargers from the day it was launched.

    Tesla Supercharging

Is this correct? I've tried using a series 3. Didn't work. Also, most of the reports on here suggest the problem is with the car. Namely that all but the most recent cars need a software update to use any open Tesla chargers. MG treat this as a chargeable update. Some have paid it. Not me. I've...

MG ZS EV Won't charge past sixty percent

If you've got the ismart app installed then open it, click on the three lines in the top left corner, then click on charging management. That will take you to the screen above. Then press and hold the triangle below the battery and move it to the charge you want.

Using Tesla Superchargers with my ZS EV

When I contacted them in September MG customer service told me the necessary update was to the EVCC. No mention was made of the other modules. That may be for my car only though.

You are indeed very lucky. From what others have reported your dealer will be charged by MG for the necessary update so it will be costing your dealer money. Only a few tens of pounds no doubt, but that's what's so frustrating about this whole thing

Using Tesla Superchargers with my ZS EV

I suppose it could be that. I did follow the Tesla instructions (3 times now).I have also been told by MG customer services and my garage that the update needed to use Tesla chargers is additional and chargeable. Personally, I can get along fine without these chargers, so I'll just pursue my...

    ZS EV Air conditioning

My experience is that the Aircon is pretty poor, especially when it's hot outside. Asked for it to be checked during first service. Apparently it's within spec!

Using Tesla Superchargers with my ZS EV

My Dec 22 MK2 LR had its first service on 20 October. The garage said they did the latest software update available from MG at that time. I tried the open Tesla chargers at Lakeside today. Exactly the same as last time I tried them. Did not recognise vehicle. I'm afraid the reply you've had from...

Using Tesla Superchargers with my ZS EV

Good news if it's true. I had my car serviced and they did a routine update to the software a couple of weeks back. So I'm assuming the car is fully up to date. At the same time the garage told me I needed to pay if I wanted an update to deal with the Tesla problem. MG customer service also...

Thanks I'll try that argument when the time comes.

Using Tesla Superchargers with my ZS EV

We will see (although not for about 6 months and then only if the motor ombudsmen agrees to take the case on) whether your view of the scope of the warranty is correct. Clearly MG doesn't think so.

Using Tesla Superchargers with my ZS EV

I did take a quick look at the warranty. I couldn't find any section where these circumstances are covered,. But, I may have missed it.

Using Tesla Superchargers with my ZS EV

This is all true, but I'm afraid MGs approach to customer care doesn't value looking after existing customers. This is why they have lost me as a future customer. Kicking myself for not taking the car back to MG Tunbridge Wells where I bought it from. But, wasn't overly impressed with the way...

Using Tesla Superchargers with my ZS EV

I've also submitted a formal complaint to the ombudsmen, arguing that I have a reasonable expectation to use the vehicle on any available charger as well as updates required to achieve this without additional payment for at least the first year.

Using Tesla Superchargers with my ZS EV

I've not had my car updated, but Apple MG (Gravesend, Kent) at least seemed to know of its existence.

    Steering Wheel Wear

Anyone else experiencing this? In my case it's about 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock. Where I hold the wheel most of the time. Pleather outer layer peeling. ZS LR, Dec22, 15k. MG is going to replace under warranty.

Using Tesla Superchargers with my ZS EV

I don't know precisely. My car was registered in Dec 22 and I would guess the update was available in the first quarter of 2023.
