Obviously, they do add bulk to the key, but I’m not bothered by that. I was slightly concerned about how well the buttons would work through the leather, but everything reacts perfectly.
I have these - they are leather, and beautifully made. I bought them from Aliexpress.
The red one is actually red, though it looks ‘orangey’ in the photo!
@Eclectic - I think that will look very smart. I much prefer the look of the shark fin to the whip aerial. Warming the 3m and the area around the aerial base with a hairdryer works well when the weather is cold, but I am sure you know that anyway!!
@Topeka - I looked at my photo again, and it’s hard to see the colour, especially at that angle. It’s definitely silver!
My super shark was delivered very quickly.
My car is silver, so that’s what I bought. You literally just screw in the attachment to the thread that’s left after removing the ‘whip’ aerial. Couldn’t be easier. Everything works fine in the car - DAB/sat nav etc.
Make sure you order the ‘Super Shark’ as the aerial base is large on the MG
I have done it. I had to buy quite a large one in order to cover the base. It was easy to connect, and I checked that the radio worked perfectly before sticking down the shark fin. I bought it from Aliexpress and the colour matched perfectly 👍🏻
The plastic covers are so much easier to clean imo, and, with the addition of some surf board wax to the clips (tip from an Aussie member), are not too difficult to remove.
If that is the AI Box Lite - it’s expensive, and I couldn’t get it to connect to my car. Quite a faff (and costly) to return, either to China or California. Thank heavens for PayPal!!
It’s an android box which can convert to apple CarPlay, not ideal for me anyway.
When I found out the issue...
I have the Carlinkit 3, which works fine. It’s just for CarPlay, whereas I think the Carlinkit 4 does AA as well.
I did have a bit of an issue when it became a bit unreliable, but deleting the Bluetooth link to the car sorted that.
I have a Carlinkit 3, (purchased from Amazon), which worked perfectly in my previous car. However, although it worked okay in the MG to begin with, it’s now very temperamental. It has the latest software installed, but pressing ‘play’ on either the Spotify screen, (or the small square on the...
I also would like a 12v socket in the boot - that was one thing I liked in the VW id3! So useful for plugging in a coolbox for picnics and self catering holidays.
Is your home charger set up for charging only at off-peak times? Is this issue new? Has it worked okay previously? Are you charging on a granny charger at your daughter’s house, or on another EVSE?
Yes, it’s in the App Store. It’s a bit of a faff to get registered with a mobile/email address (a search on this forum will help with that), and then you need to bind your vehicle to the app. The whereabouts of the QR code on the infotainment screen varies between models - again, search on the...
You can download the pdf to a printing company for around £20 if you would prefer a hard copy. I downloaded the manuals (main and infotainment), onto the kindle app on my iPad, which I have found suits me well, and enables me to quickly scroll to the relevant section.
You can also read them on...
I have a Nextbase 522gw with the additional rear cam that plugs into the side, which works fine on the rear view mirror USB socket, and I am happy with the clarity too.
