    How worried should we be?

Unfortunately its still clearly a data breach as it could identify a home location where your car could be located. An expensive car, must have lots of money, we know they drive an MG easy to identify once there. Simply it may be nothing other than fake data for demo purposes as the poster has...

    How worried should we be?

This needs to be raised with Information Commisioners Office. Especially if you have already tried to resolve the issue with the supplier (and MG?). I would inform MG if not already done but say you will raise the issue with the ICO. This should get some movement if it has not been taken up the...

Do you keep a 'charge log'? ⚡️

Politicians crave voters and no one wants to annoy 75% of the electorate. Remember the home 5% VAT is across all forms of usage, heating, cooking, watching 'big brother' on the TV (did you notice what I did there?) Also they don't want to damage their green credentials either locally or...

Do you keep a 'charge log'? ⚡️

You know if they just dropped the VAT rate from 20% to 5% to match with what the government take for home chargers it would be less discriminatory. It would only cost £14m, a minuscule amount in all political parties financial plans to clean up our countries atmosphere.

Do you keep a 'charge log'? ⚡️

I do have a spreadsheet but after 5 months I have stopped entering charge info. I knew after the first 2 months what I was expending and the milage I was doing. As soon as I realised the costs were very similar to my previous ICE car there was little point in tracking it that closely. I do keep...

The BMW is a hybrid and the electric motor helps towards the efficiency of the ICE component. However, the battery was about 7kw but increased to 11.6kw in 2018. Range of the electric part of the car is listed between 23-33 miles.

The Public Charge Point Regulations 2023

The Public Charge Point Regulations 2023

Unfortunately all our carparks with chargers, require EV drivers to pay parking charges as well. Some even have stupid regulations that give very limited time to just park let alone get any meaningful charge. 7kw over 3 hours (the maximum stay being 3 hours with no return within 2 hours) is...

The Public Charge Point Regulations 2023

I agree but suspect most companies treat these chargers like the carpark payment machines. They are seldom covered and we useally have to spend several minutes (just as long as plugging in an EV charger cable and initiating the charge by-the-way). Sometimes I have had to wait 15 minutes and more...

The Public Charge Point Regulations 2023

I believe they have set the criterior that 'all' 8Kw and above chargers should be contactless. I also believe that the suppliers only really want to but in 22Kw and above from now on other than curbside charging for residents in cities and large towns,

The Public Charge Point Regulations 2023

I believe many of you have the right idea ref shelters or at least rain protection but I also know that the planning restrictions have been one of the most challenging obstacles. Often Charge companies require 3 or more sets of planning application; physical installation, electricity supply...

The Public Charge Point Regulations 2023

Just spent the last hour reading the draft legislation laid before the House of Commons and the House of Lords on 11 July 2023. Oh what a charmed life I lead. The Public Charge Point Regulations 2023 It's all good news however and within one year of the act coming into force we should see:- 99%...

Had my 1st Rapid Charge Fail (but sorted by help number)

I have used the Instavolt Rapid Charger many times since it opened at a local McDonalds. Today for the first time it failed to read my card. Interestingly the same thing happened to the other Instavolt Charger next to me. Rang the number supplied and the issue was resolved very quickly as I also...

    Charging at motorway service stations

Although you are right Gomev, only government have the ability to get the National grid to upgrade the power to these sometimes remote locations. That is why £950m was agreed at the 2021 budget to allow this to happen. No charger network has the clout or money to upgrade the infrastructure...
