battery
An electric battery is a source of electric power consisting of one or more electrochemical cells with external connections for powering electrical devices.
When a battery is supplying power, its positive terminal is the cathode and its negative terminal is the anode. The terminal marked negative is the source of electrons that will flow through an external electric circuit to the positive terminal. When a battery is connected to an external electric load, a redox reaction converts high-energy reactants to lower-energy products, and the free-energy difference is delivered to the external circuit as electrical energy. Historically the term "battery" specifically referred to a device composed of multiple cells; however, the usage has evolved to include devices composed of a single cell.Primary (single-use or "disposable") batteries are used once and discarded, as the electrode materials are irreversibly changed during discharge; a common example is the alkaline battery used for flashlights and a multitude of portable electronic devices. Secondary (rechargeable) batteries can be discharged and recharged multiple times using an applied electric current; the original composition of the electrodes can be restored by reverse current. Examples include the lead-acid batteries used in vehicles and lithium-ion batteries used for portable electronics such as laptops and mobile phones.
Batteries come in many shapes and sizes, from miniature cells used to power hearing aids and wristwatches to, at the largest extreme, huge battery banks the size of rooms that provide standby or emergency power for telephone exchanges and computer data centers.
Batteries have much lower specific energy (energy per unit mass) than common fuels such as gasoline. In automobiles, this is somewhat offset by the higher efficiency of electric motors in converting electrical energy to mechanical work, compared to combustion engines.
I have seen various threads on this and bought car scanner pro & the vgate obdii as recommended. I have a ZS EV facelift long range.
With the correct profile selected I don't see the SOC , SOH, max cell voltage or min cell voltage in the dashboard .
However if I select them in "Live Data" they...
EDIT - all sorted, 10min negative terminal disconnect fixed things!
Assuming this is a MG assistance issue? Have had zero problems with the car until today…has only just had second service last week too - just my luck!!!
Noticed the 12v battery displaying 11.8v, and then the message ‘connected...
I posted this last December:
After seven months at the MG dealership, my car is still not repaired (Virtu Motors, Edinburgh West). They report frequently but just one excuse after another. First they didn't have a level 3 technician, then MG disagreed the scope of the repair, then no battery...
Hi, has anybody had any problems with the low ground clearance in the Cyberster?
The manual says clearance is 106mm which is lower than most sports cars, I'm worried any grounding out could potentially damage the battery pack.
It looks like the lowest part are what look like mudguards behind...
Hello to all readers.
Just got a new ZS Hybrid + and have a query regarding the High voltage battery fitted to this model.
The sales brochure indicates the battery is 1.83 kWh capacity however the Battery information booklet shows a
hybrid battery sq-5.2 Ah-1p96s-1
which is a 5.2 kWh. They...
Thought this experience might be of interest for some of the community.
Yesterday I was one of the many hundreds of frustrated drivers sitting on the M61/M6 around Preston. In my case that was for 8 hours, finally getting off at Preston around 10pm. What interested me about this otherwise...
We have had ther MG ZS for 40,000 miles and I am worried the 12 volt, battery will suddenly let us down - where and when we least expect it to.
When driving the meter still shows a healthy charge, but really, a nearly four year old battery still functioning as if it were new?! The longetivity...
Having only owned my LR Trophy for a week, I am facing my first long journey down south to London (280 miles round trip) I am hoping to get your advice on how to maximise my battery range.
Pretty much all the journey will be on the motorway which I know isn't great. I plan on charging to 100% -...
Morning all.
I have searched for this but I didn't find a specific answer.
Have you attempted to change your keyfob battery yourself?
It looks simple enough on YouTube 😁👍
I know the Dealership would do it but the car isn't due in for another four months and I have started receiving emails...
Right after a full charge to 100%, when first turning on the car, what HV battery voltage do you get?
Please only reply if you have a 51 kWh LFP battery (standard range Mk2 ZS EV).
This is what I got this morning, 410V:
Background (TL/DR):
I am using OVMS to monitor my car. Doing that I...
Do people find that their mg 5 has more power left than indicated at low charge?
For instance charging to 100 percent from 9 percent took between 44 and 48 kWh (depending on losses). 48 delivered by Ohme so lose 10 percent ish.
My battery takes about 55 kWh once degradation is accounted for...
I've got the Mk2 ZS EV with 51kWh LFP battery.
Despite being LFP I usually stop charging around 90%. In part because it is better for the battery, and mostly because I really hate it that KERS does not work properly with a fully battery.
Only once every month or two I charge to 100%.
I...
Some weeks ago I bought a slightly damaged but non-functioning [brick] 2021 MG EHS . I replaced and completed the necessary components and proceeded to START the car ...
The errors were cleared, and the software was updated with SIPS.
Unfortunately, several errors remained and could not be...
Hi all,
I like all the remote app but I didn't manage to use on function : scheduled battery heating ... (see photos).
Does anyone manage to use it ?
I guess the best way to use is when the car is plugged but i didn't have any result while trying to use it.
Thanks for your help.
Olivier
It is possible to disable the 'power limited' option, that when the battery is extreme low the car wont let you use an amount of power/speed.
What i've experienced: (not recommended)
Drove on the highway, around 115 km/h. Battery had some ~15km left on it. I needed ~4km to get home.
The...
Anyone else seeing the difference between the 14V battery reading on the dashboard and within the app? Any idea which one is right and what the expected reading should be? 13.8V on the dashboard and 14.4 on the app!?!
