An OBD dongle is a small electronic device that plugs into a vehicle’s On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) port to access data from the car’s computer systems. It is often used to monitor vehicle performance, read diagnostic trouble codes, track driving behavior, or connect with apps for telematics and vehicle management.
Since purchasing my PHEV in July 2025, I have been using the Carscanner Pro app with an OBDLink MX+ dongle and have been satisfied so far because Carscanner displays a lot of information about the car: actual SOC, SOH, fuel level, RPM, engine temperature and much more.
