traffic sign recognition

Traffic-sign recognition (TSR) is a technology by which a vehicle is able to recognize the traffic signs put on the road e.g. "speed limit" or "children" or "turn ahead". This is part of the features collectively called ADAS. The technology is being developed by a variety of automotive suppliers to improve the safety of vehicles. It uses image processing techniques to detect the traffic signs. The detection methods can be generally divided into color based, shape based and learning based methods.

    Speed limit detection hilarity

Went out just now, 100% charged and got a 'bong' to tell me regen is off - fair enough. Got onto the local road, that has a 50mph limit - first mile I just had three dashes, then 100, then 70 and then 120!! Then back to three dashes. On the way back, it got 50 on screen, then back to dashes...

    National speed limit recognition failure.

I have had this issue for some time now but it has been intermittent. It started happening after a software update to cure the star key issue. I have been monitoring it, and reading other people's posts with interest. Most of the time it will work correctly but occasionally it will stop. I...

Software update for speed sign recognition?

I recently traded in my 73 plate SE for 75 plate Extended range trophy. The traffic sign recognition worked tolerable well on the old SE. However on the 75 plate it seems to randomly freeze. It seems to recognise the first sign and then freezes. I can make the same journey on another day and it...

    Strange sounds through speakers

I have had an S6 EV since November. Yesterday, I did a trip of about 40 miles each way. On the way there, I had a strange sound through the speakers; it sounded like the sound of a two-way radio when someone pushes/releases the push-to-talk button. It seemed to do it just after a speed limit...

    Speed warning system

Hi. Having only covered some 350 miles in IM5 am finding that the speed warning beeps/display are defaulting to 20mph at times even though travelling on 60/70mph roads with no side road entries/exits. Initially I thought that it was overly sensitive and picking up side road signs but have now...

    Speed Recognition

I have a 2025 HS PHEV trophy, less than 1 week old. Generally happy except for the awful speed recognition and subsequent "bongs". Outside of 30 and 5o zones, the system is ALWAYS wrong, for example on the M4 from Swindon to Bristol it claimed the limit was 40! I havent noticed it accurately...

    Mg4 speed recognition

The speed recognition on my mg4 se has been pretty much faultless since I bought it in March. Now it seems to think all signs are 30mph. This isn't a "side road" issue as it used to be accurate on the same stretches of road. Any idea what could be wrong?
