Hi we will soon be getting our new MG ZS LR. We are looking for charger cable options for these plugs at work. Can you get a 5 pin 3 phase to type 2 ? What options can anyone recommend please ?

Type 2 has a protocol to start charging, the car and the charger talk to each other.
From the photo you have just a 3 phase plug, you need an EV charger in between.
No approved electrician should attempt to bypass that EV charger, the car could end up in flames.
Having said that the ZS can use up to 7kw so there is no advantage to install a 3 phase charger (11 or 22kw). During work hours most EV charge to full on a 7kw charger.

Hi,
I would not use this. It looks like it requires an external power source as the bottom connection is a plug not a socket. If there is power already going to it? it would be dangerous if someone touched the plug pins?

Those are CEE sockets designed for high current devices such as industrial machines. The smaller top ones are for 16A, the bottom 32A. You can buy pEVSE (aka granny leads) for them, and some adapters for Tesla etc. But they run at a lower level of safety and are not recommended.
The lower connection is distinctly dodgy and should be checked with your resident sparky before going anywhere near. It is a plug and should not be live.

Can you add a picture showing under the top two flaps.
The large lower plug looks like it takes power in (as already mentioned) otherwise the pins would be live.
Have you seen it being used for anything in the past?

Thank you to everyone for there help on this. I'll take a look for a 16amp single phase to type 2 charger cable for the work charging. Thanks again 👌

You won't be able to plug it straight into the car as there is no control, you could get a three pin plug to 16A commando camping lead that would be a safe option.

Or you could purchase a 16A pEVSE to run at the full 16A rather than 10A assuming that the supply is sufficient.

Note the brick to the left of the 3 pin CEE cable, that communicates with the car to control the charge..

Please take this as genuine advice and not an attack.

That device is designed to be used with the 3 way unit undercover, it's far from waterproof. The RCD is the wrong curve for EVs but good in terms of being double pole. The MCB is designed only for 10A and most MCB derate when hot after a long run at near capacity - which means that most 3 pin granny's are likely to trip it after an hour or so. If you want it for camping it's good, but for charging an EV all day at work not ideal.
The safest way is to buy a granny with the blue 16A plug already fitted, but if you want to use an adaptor to use a granny fitted with a 13A plug then get something waterproof (IP56 minimum) with plenty of space around the 13A plug to allow it to keep cool.
You can make one using components if you know what you are doing, otherwise Tough leads sell various options. Also read their page on EV charging for good advice.

Thanks for the heads up. There would be nothing more annoying than coming out thinking you've had 9 hrs charge and to find just 1hr in the battery. Thanks again BugEyed

Not this one then:)

Have you got a link for your one?
How about this ?
