Does anyone know what impact the load rating has on tyres? To explain, I need minimum 94V (V is the speed rating), and can get a 98W tyre a little cheaper but same quality/size etc. (it’s also rated a little quieter…) will the increased load rating make any difference? Thank you!

I have been looking at tyres and they seem to mark them with XL hopefully that mean extra load :)

I higher load index will normally imply a stiffer sidewall so it may be a little noisier and give a harsher ride. Whether you would actually notice the difference is debatable.

Thanks. That was my thinking. They produce decibel ratings as well as rolling resistance and wet weather grip - it’s a bit confusing and I’m not convinced there’s much between the premium brands of tyre. I guess you can go up on a speed rating or load rating but not down below the recommended.

Yes, the minimum will be whatever is quoted in the owner's manual rather than what is on the existing tyres.
