Sure was. If I was vey low on charge I could nip the half mile down to my local, charge it up to about 80% for free on the rapid, then move round the corner to where there are 2 free podpoints (4 connections) and fill up. Used the Podpoints weekly anyway for normal run of the mill topping up.
I used these for the vast vast majority of my electrons in the last year only using my home box for final fill and balancing occasionally.

We are lucky in Leeds area plenty of Aldi , and Tesco free pod points along with White Rose Pod points , bit slow but they are free and generally available
