Hi everyone,

Has anyone else noticed that MG car seats are really uncomfortable for longer drives? Even within two hours I start feeling exhausted and uncomfortable. One of my friends warned me about this before I bought the car and now I realise he was absolutely right.

I’ve driven many different cars over the years and never had this kind of issue with seats before, so this feels quite disappointing. I honestly don’t understand how they designed the seat like this.

I’ve already tried using a beaded seat cushion from Halfords, which helped a little, but it’s still not comfortable for longer journeys.

Has anyone found a proper solution? Maybe a specific cushion, lumbar support, seat adjustment tips, or anything else that actually works?

Thanks in advance.

My son-in-law and daughter did not like the seats in my MG5 for long journeys. I have not travelled a great distance but I find them quite comfortable.

Believe me, seat is horrible..just go for a long drive...my car is MG HS PHEV 2023..don't know about MG5 though.

You can’t compare X-Power with HS PHEV seats. A 1.5-hour drive in the HS PHEV feels like sitting on an over-inflated, air-filled seat — exhausting.
Yes you're right, I don't know why the HS seats should be so bad, I assume the car's suspension is ok, and not contributing to the problem?

I don’t think other factors are contributing to this. The car has only done 26k miles. Also, it’s not just me — a few other drivers have said the same thing. I’m only realising it now through my own experience.

Agree. All seats are different. I was only replying to the thread title. Thought you meant MGs in general. 🙂👍

I get back ache on long journeys as a front seat passenger in the MG4. I end up fidgeting around to try and ease the ache.

Funnily enough, less so in the rear.

But we are talking 4 hours plus.

However, in the rear, another problem arises... The seat belt cuts into my neck. That is really annoying.

The boot it is, then. 😉🙂👍

I'm just over 6 feet tall!

Remember as a kid going in the boot of a 1974 Toyota Crown estate. Absolutely massive! There was 6 of us in there. Three on one side and three on the other with feet meeting in the middle.

In the 70s when everyone thought it was OK to put kids in the boot...

2021 HS PHEV and love the seats. Had a 2020 Grand Spacetourer before and I thought they were comfortable these are as good if not better than the Citroen seats, I love them. Drove several hours with no issues at all. All down to personal preference or feelings though ....

I agree with @Speakasyoufind . I love the seats in my 2022 HS PHEV. I've driven on 2 separate occasions from Melbourne to Brisbane in Australia, a return distance of over 3600 kms, not all in one go but driving for 9 to 10 hours at a time with 5-10 minute breaks every 2 hours to stretch my legs. A very comfortable ride for me.
