Anyone wash their car today? ?

Kent and Sussex also have hosepipe bans. Residents there are up in arms and have complained that the reason for the shortage is number of unresolved water leaks from their local water company. No ban here yet, but if we do get one I'll be using the waterless car wash option.

Yep, the ban started on Friday, we're allowed to use a bucket of water to wash car windows, lights, and number plates, but not the whole car. :(

Windows and Lights I can obviously understand. But number plates, I that so they can still get you for Speeding. Or is that being very Cynical. 🙄🤪

As anyone seen that Youtube video short from China , where a leaf is stuck to the rear reg plate to partially obscure it from cameras but has a fishing line attached running to the rear wiper so if a Police car is following a quick flick of the switch and the line releases the leaf from the weak glue and it can flutter free.

I think that's just a recommendation on a poster ? ....

Another quote in their FAQ :-

"We're asking people not to use them for non-essential purposes. Please don't wash your car with a hosepipe, you can absolutely use a bucket."

I've always used a few buckets and washed the whole car in the past when it really needs it. What's annoying is that I can drive half a mile and use a a full commercial mains jet car washer at our local Shell garage ! (as commercial car washes are not banned)..

Yes you can use a bucket and sponge, which I'll probably do.

I got the Windows, lights, number plates bit from here.
"We’re encouraging our customers to think twice about cleaning their car at the moment. If you still feel you need to wash the muck off, you can do so with a bucket and sponge. Or, you can just give the windows, mirrors, lights and number plates a quick clean."
