Apple CarPlay not connecting

Just got a 23 plate MG4, but when I try and connect my iPhone 15, it comes up with the following messages: any ideas?

Firstly, I do not have an SE or an iPhone so may be providing misleading information but here goes.

I see that the Android Auto button is black compared to the Apple Car Play button. Is the car already bluetoothed to an Android phone?

Is your iPhone connected to the car by Bluetooth? Have you plugged in your cable?

What infotainment version do you have? (Swipe left, Settings, then System.

This is what I have currently. Bluetooth works fine but nothing on CarPlay. I also noticed about the android being black but the car play being grey.

I just don’t understand why this isn’t done during servicing if it needs to be updated - plus doesn’t it come under warranty as ultimately something isn’t working that should be.

Unfortunately, unless you have a friendly dealer, upgrades are not done unless you complain there is a problem and MG agree to pay or you have to pay.

I believe you have a fault that should be fixed under warranty. You could try a Factory Reset of the Infotainment System or disconnecting the negative terminal of the 12V battery for 10 minutes. Please read the Wiki before you try that.

However if the car was sold to you with this fault then you should get the dealer to fix it before trying the above as some Posters have had problems afterwards.

Was your car 'unbound' from its previous owner?

For the USB cable you need to use the lefthand socket (USB-A). Can you please confirm the Bluetooth link to your phone rather than an Andoroid phone by looking at the car's Bluetooth page.

You can restart the infotainment system by holding down the home button for ag least 10 seconds but you probably have restarted it already by powering down the car.

Good question. I believe not, based on a post by @siteguru, since it should only reset the infotainment system and unbinding at this stage may have consequences. I have not needed to do it myself.

However I suggest you search the forum for 'factory reset'; you will see a couple of threads where posters have had problems after the reset. Unfortunately I do not know of a guide for the reset.

If you are not happy to manage any arising problems then a trip to the dealer may be your best option.
