Archev's adventures in the Berlingo

Yeah thanks I suspected that would be the case I just hadn’t encountered anything nor heard any such stories. If the situation had persisted I might have gone back to the house and had Granddaughter investigate. She’s only 14 but has a super grasp of technology and a very analytical mind. It would have been interesting seeing her approach to the problem.
That reminds me when I bought my first hybrid, a Prius, which led me to EVs. I had a check list to go through for all the usual mechanical bits, and told my son, (who would have been 12 at the time) to check out the infotainment screen. I remember the guy who was selling it was wide eyed and open mouthed as he had sorted out the whole lot in 5 minutes. :ROFLMAO:

Yep these youngsters are interesting to be with. Granddaughter showed me screens on my iPhone I’d never contemplated. Tap the back of the phone for the camera or loads of other things.

Preparing for another escape with Berlingo. I addressed a couple of things yesterday. I bought a bug zapper/ lantern to hang in the awning and a wee groundsheet for the same. The inner bedroom has a sewn in groundsheet but not the main area.
My induction hob is absolutely fantastic for cooking and boiling water etc. the only problem I’ve had with it has been levelling it either in the car or outside on the camp table. I’ve had to resort to packing it up to keep the pot or kettle from slowly but serenely gliding off the heating area. Then there’s the possibility for that movement to scratch the glass surface.
So yesterday as I wandered through Tesco I found silicon liners for air fryers. I bought one of the small circular cake tin size ones and it’s perfect. The pan or kettle can sit in it and the heat transfer if anything is quicker. That’s possibly due to the sidewall holding the heat a wee bit better? The main advantage, however, is that the silicon surface doesn’t allow the metal pot to slide across the glass. Problem solved, my porridge pot isn’t in danger of landing at, or worse, on my feet. This latter should eradicate any screeching and howling in the glens due to my out of tune food preparation 😂

Further to the above but nothing to do with camping (that I can think of - yet 🤣)
Just watched a bloke using an induction “torch” to heat stuck metal pins and bolts to free them off instead of the traditional oxy acetylene torch burning those gasses (look up Mr Hewes on utube)
Very interesting, impressive stuff, heating, welding, burning etc.
And the young lassie showing them how it works has beautiful nails 🤩

All we need now is the weather...

From Monday, apparently 🤷‍♂️
Thank you. Monday and Tuesday over around Ayr would be nice. And if you could manage Saturday and Sunday 12th and 13th that would help around the Glamis area for the Vintage Vehicle Extravaganza there. And something over on the west coast say Mull and/ or Applecross works for me too.
Great stuff sir thanks🤣

This is looking promising. Better than Arran in this time window I think.

If I leave the cat with the automated feeders I can only stay away three nights, but I could check if the cattery has any vacancies for him.

The only snag is that it would mean missing the Wimbledon finals.

Aye just looked around and a few places are looking promising next weekend , even Glamis looking much better than it was even yesterday. I’m possibly heading to Ayr tomorrow for a couple of days visiting but Berlingo will be kitted out for onward voyage if weather and all else looks good.
I am keen to go to the vintage extravaganza on Saturday or Sunday possibly with my Daughter and Spaniel.

The cat or you?

Joking aside, one of my kittens loves Wimbledon.

Sits there watching the ball go back and forth...

We have only recently got them, and they have to stay in till they are snipped and chipped, hence the litter tray.

My wife and therefor by default myself were cat folks - she understood cats and their ways so the various cats in our family accepted me as a house guest. Our first cat even used to join us hillwalking on the Pentland hills south of Edinburgh and up around Deeside. She loved travelling with us in the car.

Dragging this thread roughly back on topic, the forecast is getting better and better.

Getting myself to Inverness - or rather to Dores where I plan to camp the first night - by Wednesday evening is looking like a plan. If I can't get Jori into the cattery, as seems likely given that it's the beginning of the school holidays, I'll try to persuade a neighbour to come in and feed him from Saturday afternoon on.

Aye the temperatures are looking pretty good. I’m hoping it’s right for Glamis area 12th & 13th. Good luck with Dores trip pictures of Nessie anticipated.
