Archev's adventures in the Berlingo

Load up with various Imperial/ Metric socket sets , and a V2L kettle and I'm sure you would be welcomed .
And a heap of spare parts ... nuts and bolts probably, and a drill so they can bolt the bits back on  Maybe a tarp and umbrella as well

Guys I’m struggling to really get into ev driving - even after about five electric years. It’s worrying that I’m still doubting myself.
Nothing to do with the two fine MGs I had nor the superb Citroen e Berlingo I now pilot around the country. It’s all in my mind I’m sure.
I’ve been aware that as I’m about to start away, I’m sensing ive missed something, then it dawns on me that there’s no clutch and I can rest the left leg, there’s no gear lever so everything is so much simpler and I like it.
But I suffered a massive regression just yesterday and again today. I sat in and went through the usual checks and palaver and all was well so I set off.
But niggles took over and I searched in vain for whatever I felt I lacked. Then I became aware that I was checking the dashboard and all round the steering column but I knew not what I sought.

Later in the day it suddenly lit up in the brain that the control I had been seeking on this cold morning was one I’ve not used for many years. In fact I’m sure it was last available to me on the 1959 Morris Minor 🤭

Yes folks I am certain I was thinking it was time to push the choke back in 🤣🥴🙄

I'll just pop this here for our younger viewers, and your sanity @Archev 😁

Morris Marina with broken choke lock , pull out choke and clip on two clothes pegs ( wooden ) swear and attempt to start car , after eventual success , drive off, after quarter of a mile , slide off the outermost peg , when temperature gauge shows one quarter unclip the remaining peg . On both occasions choke automatically pulls back in. ( 1981 ) surprising what you remember once prompted. If no success, run back into the house and get out push bike. Arrive late for work and get quartered / halved.

Now I recall why there’s two wooden pegs lurking in my toolbox connected jaw to jaw 💡

A sticking choke cable can be loosened with the WD. Being brought up in a rough Northern industrial town the other method could be useful in previous times either on a Friday/ Saturday night confrontations , terrace entrapments and escape tactics, or even a bit of avoiding good old horseplay violence aimed at the naive engineering apprentice as a ritual rights of passage ordination event, involving copious amounts of Castrol grease.
