I took our MG4 to a local body shop to repair a serious dent & scratch in a rear door.

The owner explained that he
  • Couldn't use the standard electrical method to remove the dent, due to complications with the battery; instead he used a pressure device
  • Couldn't use the standard bake method @70C, also due to complications with the battery; instead he cooked it @ 50C.

He accepted the car and did an excellent job; I think he needed to buy some new kit to make the repair.

Unless you remove the battery pack. The EVs cannot go into a booth to bake the paint.
This is why it's costly. Unless a local back street paint shop does paintwork the old fashioned way, (no spray booth) you will get a reasonable job at a reasonable price.
Why ? Where does this come from, I have never heard of this before and am fairly sceptical until proven otherwise.

This is a 3 month old Polestar written off by the insurers. I can't imagine that the insurers will not sell it on to fred in a shed to put back on the road.
