Are EVs too quiet

🙇‍♀️ your hearing is truely remarkable; because my intuition told me and a Google search confirmed that...

But maybe Ben has rap music blaring out at 120dB ? 🤷‍♀️
that's how i know my son just pulled up outside the house. or has just left. 🤣

Curiously when we had our Cocker and Beagle both reacted to our EVs, now we are down to our beagle he goes ape shit when he’s aware of the car approaching the house, don’t know why unless the wee Bollox has hacked the Apple tag on his IPhone.

BASSAD!!!

There was an article somewhere that I read about them trying different sounds to see which was the preferred choice ..... they settled on a Jetson's saucer air computer sound, but observes noted that the ones who actually did hear it, looked up, not around them for an approaching vehicle .....

I like the stealth approach to someone who clearly isn't paying attention to their surroundings, get close enough it feels like the car is about to touch them, then hit the horn ...... rabbit in the headlights comes to mind and after they land, return home for fresh undies, I feel they will pay a lot more attention in the future .... either that or I'm installing a few dash cams so I can record the event from multiple angles and start a You Tube channel ..... "do you recognise this muppet?"

When my ancient FC Holden surfwagon, only had the handbrake working on one back wheel, It was very easy to look up that back wheel and make a lovely squealing sound.
Just right for the person crossing the road without looking. With any luck it cured them for life.

This little madam taps the home phone ,
When I phone to say I'm on my way home she's watching out the window

Knowing nothing about an FC Holden surf wagon ancient or modern I had to google it. I bet they shat themselves!!!

For sure, the old FC Holden's weren't known for it's braking ability at the best of times

Handbrake on one wheel certainly didn't stop quick, but the squeal went on for ages.

Found this old pic of it, wasn't a station wagon, it was a panel van.

One of the surf spots had a boggy sand track to it. so the guys would unload their cars, load on to mine, Pile as many in the back as possible, some standing on the tailgate, and we'd commence, if it got boggy, the guys on the tailgate would bounce up and down to get some grip. If that didn't work, they'd hop off and push.
FUN TIMES!!!!!!

Imagine what it would be worth now, nothing, they never seem to value the memories of a pile of rust with a few tyres and glass in it ;)

Ah nostalgia, I'd done some work on this car and it had sentimental value. Girl I started going with at the time wouldn't be seen dead in it, and I had to get a station wagon.
HK 186S with four on the floor, It was nice after only having 3 on the column and no syncro on first.
How would I feel driving it now, after the MG?

Are yes, the good old days, the 4 sp floor shift with the pudding stirrer stick, the gear selection was so sloppy you had no real clue what you had selected until you let the clutch out .... besides reverse, that was sound activated if you hadn't waited till all gears had stopped spinning, a gentle slow release of the clutch to see if it was actually reverse and not second you'd picked, and that you had actually had the bench seat back far enough to get it fully engaged in reverse
But they were great for the mechanical trade, at least two gear selector rebuilds to each gearbox overhaul .....
