They've finally announced which refreshed MG4s will be available here in Australia.

Just the two. The RWD Essence 64 and AWD Xpower.

Article has all the details.

Well priced IMHO.

$40,000 drive away for the Essence and $48,000 for the Xpower. That's around 20,000 and 24,000 pounds for you British folk.

They've dropped the cheaper trims as the low end market gets the new "Urban" FWD model.

I can't believe the Extended Range isn't available in Australia, you'd think if there was any Country that needed extended range, it would be Australia.
Yes, I'm glad I got mine while they were available.

Albeit, it was purely via a serendipitous stuff up by the dealer!

They thought they were selling us a "64" and then found out it was actually a "77" after we'd agreed to the price and put down our deposit :ROFLMAO:

They really were very good about it. After we got the "ER" I confirmed it worked for my long distance trips and so we the actually replaced our other car and got the "51" as well.

Everyone's a winner (y)

I have a feeling the Volcano Orange is a mis-print, but you never know. You might have @salty popping over to Australia for one. 😁
I've downloaded the latest official PDF with the specs etc...

Confirmed no Volcano Orange.

The new model has a LFP battery & power is down 10 kW to 140kW so a little slower to 100km but a slightly increased range. The heat pump for A/C & heating is a good addition.
If it says it has a heat pump, I think that is also a mis-print, the MG4 Urban has a heat pump, but not the new 2926 MG4.

These are Australian models, not Europe/UK. They can have different equipment I believe.

The Volcano Orange "mis-print" was from a Journo's article I referenced at the threads start. This official spec sheet showed it was not an available option.

But 100Nm more torque! That's way more important than 10kW power IMHO (y)

Agreed. Not that we need a lot of heating here, but you do get a few cool months and sometimes people visit the snowfields ;)

I think the change to an LFP battery and slightly faster charging is a good move too.

The increase from the claimed 51kwh to 64kwh for the LFP battery is a great move. The improved torque is at the motor or on the ground? The raise in torque might be to help with the bigger wheels, up from the 17" to 18", so probably not really noticeable when driving.

I wonder if the battery box is bigger than the previous model meaning more cells to increase the nom. capacity? or are they using different capacity cells?

This replaces the Essence 64 of old with its 64kWh NMC battery, 18" wheels and a 150kW / 250Nm motor.

The extra 100Nm of torque is really noticeable on my Long Range 77 with 18" wheels to the 250Nm of my wife's Excite 51 with the 17" wheels. Sure it has a 180kW motor as well, but it's the torque that you really notice.

You don't think stepping up from 125kw to 180kw would be the part that was noticeable, but 100nm of torque would be, the massive 74ftlb of torque would be far more noticeable?

If you've worked out how to live another 900 years you must be a very rich man
Three marriages made sure that didn't happen, but I have improved in selecting now  22 yrs with this one .....
