Should the auto headlights on/off make the dash screens go from dark to light background, when certain ambient light conditions prevail?

Quick answer...No

Unlike the MG4 the MGS5 doesn't have an auto light/dark mode

But you can change the screen brightness for both lights on and lights off. I've just changed it to a dark theme and so far it seems the best compromise

I think this was covered in another recent thread. Basically the brightness depends on whether you have your headlights on or off. To adjust:

1. Turn off your headlights manually
2. Adjust screen brightness
3. This will be the brightness when your headlights are off.
4. Next, turn on your headlights manually
5. Adjust the screen brightness
6. This will be the brightness when your headlights are on.

Unfortunately, it doesnt change the them from dark to light. I really want that.
