Bad month for solar generation

typical - it wasn't the best day, was it - you need a nice EV with a V2L output so you can top up those batteries with cheap electricity

I'm looking into some way to do that.

Generation in 2024 was down 12% vs 2024 & down 19.7% so far in Jan.
Our 3.6kWh array generated 3.554MWh in 25 . We exported 1,300 kWh the rest we used.
We have 4.2kWh batteries that saved us 1,400 kWh.

Octopus tells me we use 31% less energy than our neighbours (gas & power) so the batteries are part of that.

Well, that's better - Spring is coming. 28kWh made today so January is already over 300kWh solar production with another day to go.

I'll need some more batteries soon to put it all in - just need to choose between adding an extra 51kWh, 64kWh or 77kWh battery pack

10 kWh is a normal day Spring/Autumn. 20 is normal in Summer, with sunny days getting up to 35.

January, to date was 89kWh which is worth £20 in FiT payments, I don't think there will be much generated today. Unless February is spectacular I can't see it getting anywhere near the 500 kWh average for the winter quarter.

Well here in sunny West Wales we have exceeded January 2024 generation figures and the days not finished Jan 2024 was 168kWh Jan 2025 is 171kWh and rising so it is a good and encouraging start to the year. Hopefully we will be on target for 5.49MWh like 2023 ?

The January stats are in. 146.4 kWh for the month. Compared to 63.4 kWh in December and 165.66 in November. Nice and sunny today, panels doing 4.59 kW and exporting most of it. Good start to February.

For me; 311kWh for Jan, 180kWh Dec, 313kWh Nov. I do have more panels than you, but still interesting to see the ratios.

Not in Australia. More than I need so putting it to good use.

I can't wait till it cools down a bit so I can put my solar on the roof of the Winnebago. At the moment, the sun is at a serious UV level for the next week or more and temps in the shade around the 40°C mark, so outside work is limited to after sun down ...... before sun up is reserved for sleeping
All my generated solar will be used in house, zero poles and wires fees, zero GST and zero actual energy charges, so I reckon I'll be way ahead of anyone selling their power to the grid for around 4 AU cents per kWh and then have to pay GST on top of that, then buy it back on peak load as the sun goes down for between 50 cents and 80 cents per kWh .... and paying GST on that as well ....

On 1st February I got 16.2 kwh and exported 12.38 kwh of that to the grid. It would be nice if that was an omen, but this morning I'm only getting 121 watts at after 10 am which isn't even enough to run the house and the battery is still discharging.

... then you need to move to sunny East Anglia 6.5kW here at 11am Happy with my almost 30kWh production today, less happy with the 7.5kWh I lost to export for nothing That could have given me about 25 miles for free.

December 2024 looks like being a really bad month for solar generation. In the first 4 weeks my 4kW array has generated 44 kWh or around £10 (FiT) well down on previous years.

Move to Oz, 44kWh is my daily winter production.

Understand completely but was reminded of the many British immigrants of the post WW2 era the other day when speaking to a friend who still happily refers to himself as a 10 Pound Pom. Strangely though we have considered a move to the UK in our more fanciful moments during recent trips there
