Broken Parcel Shelf 😢

Not pointing any fingers ( ), but Mrs S has managed to break off one of lugs that locks in to keep the shelf hinged in place, IYKWIM.

Having looked at the cost of these, both new and second hand, they are very expensive.

Does anyone have any experience of gluing these rigid plastics and which would be the best one to use?

Or am I on a hiding to nothing?

I'd drill a very small hole in both first and insert a steel pin before gluing.

I'm not sure it's fully her fault, i blame the design as almost every car i have had you lift the shelf up and pull out, however on the MG it comes out sideways.

If you have access to 3D printing > MG4 Parcel Shelf Rear Load Cover hinge L+R (modified reinforced part)

You could even look at third parties that will 3D print for you. Some seem expensive, but it might be cheaper than a new shelf, and it's cheaper than buying a 3D printer.

If you've ever wanted a 3D printer, and couldn't justify it, this seems to me to be a very reason for buying one

Remove the shelf and as said above, use a strong super glue to get the two parts boded together, then to add extra strength either use some hot melt glue, or you could use super glue and add some baking power before it sets, it will set like concrete .
