Broken Springs

My two rear springs snapped at the lower end within the first year. Both repaired under warranty.

I wonder when Covid hit and supply chains were disrupted, they used springs from the ICE version of the ZS, which is a lighter car.

No, that's not probable. The car wouldn't sit right or drive correctly. It would be illegal to sell them into our market like that as they would need new homologation testing. Just wouldn't work. Costs would be enormous too.

I have had a look at the warranty, and I cannot find an exclusion for the springs. I currently believe that they are covered for 7 years / 80,000 miles. Interesting that both rear springs were recorded as broken during the same annual service but that doesn't mean they failed at the same time of course.

My initial question to the authorised dealer, MG Weston-super-Mare, elicited a "Sorry, not covered" response, but I will pursue it with them and MG UK. They have offered a really good service, thus far, so I have no reason to suspect they won't be helpful with this matter.

It'll probably come under Dampers and struts
DAMPERS, STRUTS . . . . . . . 36 months . . . . . . . . 45,000 miles
