CarPlay/ IPhone 16 Connection

I rarely get lucky connecting to the CarPlay with my iPhone 14. I have tried wired, non wired, car kit solution. It drops connnection or doesn’t even off Car Play, with it greyed out. I am about to buy an iPhone 16.

Can someone please share what connection lead do I need to buy to make the phone connect successfully to my car? Ironically my husband’s Android phone connects- but it isn’t his car. Thank you.

Your husbands lead will be fine, USB C is the lead you need, they have ditched the Lightening port.

Thank you. I’ve connected to my MG ZS Trophy with Bluetooth for phone calls and music but it will not connect to Apple Maps. Is this only by a wired connection? When I tried a cable it connected me to Maps for a few minutes before kicking me out completely of the music and phone connection

for CarPlay you need a cable or wireless dongle connection. Bluetooth is only for music and phone calls. You will probably need to try 4-5 different cables until you find one that works. There are a lot of posts on the forum about this.

p.s. don't go and splash £20 on a "special" cable - I tried a few cheap £1 ones from AliExpress and Temu and found a couple that worked. but i would definitely recommend getting a wireless dongle from AliExpress for about £5 or so. no need for cables!
