Charging MG Or Other PHEV And Other Q's

We currently have a 23 MG4 on lease. It is nearly into its last year.

We may well be looking at a hybrid () next time. Hopefully the HS PHEV, or perhaps another.

I did think here would be the best place to put this thread, but if the Mods want to move it, please do.

My first question (at least the second part) is probably best addressed to Octopus, but I wondered if I could carry on using the Ohme Home Pro to charge the HS (or A.N. Other). I guess I would have to change the 7p tariff, as the amount I would be using would be much less.

Next question, are the standard (non plug-in) hybrids any good? Does the ZS hybrid have the over revving characteristic that the MG3 can suffer with?

To my mind, the only hybrids worth having are the plug ins, but I could have that completely wrong.

And, moving away from the MG brand, what (if anything) do folk think of the Sportage PHEV and the Austral (not plug in) Hybrid?

One review I read said the Sportage doesn't recharge the battery once it's depleted. They said the HS has a cleverer system.

Which? magazine rate the Austral quite highly, although it isn't a best buy, but the Sportage is.

I feel almost as much in the dark with hybrids as I did with EVs before taking the plunge with the MG4!

As long as you are charging now and again, I don't believe that you will have an issue with octopus.energy.

RE octopus they do not actual check the charger you merely have to have one and a smart meter which can send 1/2 hourly reads as long as you have this effectively all energy consumed between midnight and 7AM in the house is charged at 7p per KWH (similarly eon next drive tariff - which im going onto 30th July with a £75 incentive for Ohme charger EV drivers - guessing because of the OVO **** up. but on both of these all electricity consumed between midnight and 6 or 7 AM is ccosted at 7p per kwh - so can set dishwasher washing machine etc. to run then and save more money (about 18p per kwh I believe currently). So well worth checking - the Octopus tariff you need is called Intelligent octopus go tariff (for the reduced overnight rate).

Things have all changed re the Sportage as there is an MY26 model out now and the PHEV has not made the line up as of yet. Only the regular hybrid has been launched.
Re the front end, I think I prefer the outgoing model.
