Simple little addition to the car courtesy of MG Titan, visually tidies the look of the charge door and also reduces water ingress, pleased with it, I'm sure something similar could be sourced closer to home but as I had an order in the basket thought I'd add this.

Charging Port Dustproof Rubber Seal

I reckon I know why, it is the thing that causes the most problems with charging doors not opening. In the cold, the water trapped there freezes, in heat, the rubber seal glues itself to the body ....
In frustration with this reoccurring problem, I have removed the plastic cover permanently until I come up with a simple fix like a key slot over the top of the quick release visible once the plastic cover is removed ....... the unfortunate follow up problem is the small plastic pin that goes inside the quick release that normally hold the door shut, falls out on the road somewhere, resulting in the annoying alarm telling you it can't sense the charge door is closed, and the warning light blanks out all the warning and info that appears on the screen under it .....

I grease the pin and receptor monthly with a smear of silicone grease and always use a chart port waterproof cover when charging. The seal is silicone based, good quality and you just cut it to length, peel off the backing and pop it into place, nice firm fit when closing the door, plush even. :)

Wow, I'm surprised the car doesn't come with a rubber seal on the charging flap.
Nope, it doesn't for some reason.

I do find the rubber bung for the DC pins doesn’t have a snug fit. Open the charge flap and the rubber bung comes off with it. Bit extra protection of the charge port might not be a bad thing.

Found your comment interesting, never once had an incident with the DC cover coming out when I open the charge port, still in the search for data I've just been out and did 10 open and closing of the door, no movement of the DC cover.

On mine it's a plastic moulded cover with 2 protrusions moulded into it rather than o rings, I agree not a snug sealed fit, but possibly that's to allow for air circulation to prevent corrosion as I don't know for certain I ditched the idea of a wrap of self amalgamating tape round each post.

Is there a possibility in your case that the security strap is caught up?

For reference picture of the rubber seal in place with the flap closed, nice neat fit and look IMPO.

Just been out and had a little play with it. Not as bad as I previously described, probably no worse than yours. However if you wiggle your finger on the cover simulate the car bouncing up and down on the road, the cover will easily move out slightly.

Had a closer look at the charge door and it already has a rubber seal going round protecting the sockets when closed.

Yes I noticed, however as a regular home valeter Ive had to wipe water out of the charger port area after power washing, with that addition seal fitted I haven't. :)

Having thought about it the protrusion on the charge port door will ensure the DC cover is secured in place during driving.

I have ordered based on your original recommendation (amongst other things from MG Titan) then I went out and had a look at the charge port and noticed the seal is already there so I did question myself whether it’s actually needed 😃.
