MG4
Morning everyone, first post on here having just taken the plunge to move to EV..MG4 Trophy L/R. Taking delivery next week. I wondered if I may ask for some words of wisdom please. The car is 2 1/2 years old and has MG service history from new with the next service due in February 2026. My question is: Can I check that the car ACTUALLY has MG 7 year warranty as this information comes from the selling dealer ( well known on-line seller) ? They told me that really after 3 years most items are not covered by the 7 year warranty anyway, I've seen on here some comment about the exclusions and this seems to bear this out. DO I have to call MG direct to confirm ? call me cynical... appreciate any thoughts/experience on this.

Like most manufactures the MG warranty after 3 years covers less and less. The main item covered is the battery and a few other components.
I have had my MG5 for over 4 years and it has been faultless, The only thing that you may notice is that the service charge for year 3 and year 4 will be a bit more than the charges for the earlier service which really only involve emptying the ashtrays?
Things like brake fluid changes, coolant changes and transmission drive oils start adding to the bills.
On the plus side you do get AA cover with the anual service at MG.
Long manufactures warranty plans are really created to keep you going back to the dealers so i will let you draw your own conclusions.
I have to say my Mg has been the most reliable car I have run that includes;- Mercedes VW Audi Bentley Skoda Rover Renault Ford Lotus and Alfa Romeo.
I hope yours serves you well

Many thanks for your swift reply, appreciated. Good to hear your opinion of the MG5, fingers crossed the 4 will be the same for us. Just hoping I can forgive some of the , shall we say, less luxurious finishes than previous cars I've had. Like you I'm coming from Mercedes, jaguars BMW etc but as a first "toe in the water" to EV's I think the MG is a good starting point, again my thanks...

@chadcombe

I have owned my ZS for two and a half years, and it has also been faultless. I hope you will be happy with your intended purchase, and welcome to the forum, which is an excellent resource!

Thank you for your comments, very reassuring to hear …seems like we have picked the right brand , mostly positive inputs on here , thanks again .

There have been some lemons, but that happens with any marque. Whether there are disproportionately more MG lemons is really impossible to say, but people who have non-lemon cars, which is the vast majority, are happy bunnies in the main.
