Interesting video, I think this guy is one of the best car reviewers out there.
I agree his knowledge and database are outstanding, he obviously rates Tesla's but in no way does he let that impact his reviews of other manufacturers, unlike some of the UK motoring press

Well whatever you think of Tesla as brand there cars are great and they have made the EV market what it is today

Had this conversation numerous times their cars might not be to everyone's liking but their tech and efficiency is amongst the best out there

And the pioneers of electric cars
When you think about the 2008 Tesla roadster being able (on paper to do 200 miles) that was outstanding. The first gen leaf in 2010 was only about 80 miles.

Although the Tesla was just a lotus Elise

And think, most of the dislike of Teslas is now down to Musk being a bit of a Berk.
Which is a bit silly. 🙂👍

Where "bit of a Berk" is shorthand for Bond film level of evil megalomaniac ;)

If they'd actually produced the compact "Model 2" it would have been the car to suit us, but the Y and 3 are just too big for our needs.

Damn shame.

Musk is nothing compared to China and people are happy to buy MGs

I think the issue with Musk is the sense of betrayal.
With China you know where you stand. Although in my eyes we as West demonize them whilst we forget the horrors we have inflicted and still do around the world. I guess they are a threat to our global dominance.

As for Musk a guy who's company was supposed to lead the green Revolution and all that now being a techno feudalist supporting the drill baby drill culture, whilst backing up far right movements across Europe is a bit too much.

I think it's more than as an individual Musk is an easier target.
China is a vast country with a mostly faceless government who are carrying lots of unpleasant acts on the minorities in their own country.
and yes there is no excuse for forgetting what the British/English have inflicted on countries around the world (certainly if you go back in history far enough)
If you want to go back far enough you don't need to go further than these islands to see horrors inflicted on nations of people

People are easily swept along you only have to look at the thousands of arseholes supporting Farage, Middleton, Robinson and reform, if there was an election tomorrow they would probably get into government. The only saving grace would be that I think that would very quickly bring about Scottish independence, that would be the last straw I think, it would be a Brexit too far (another thing Scotland voted against)

I think it is the fact that he has multiple perspectives and travels a lot: as he says he has 4 different nationalities he flits between and inhabits.

This gives him a more rounded perspective than many others.

And he has a dry humour matter-of-fact presentation style which is highly appealing. There's nothing "sexed up" or distorted by trying too hard.

Oh and I think the new version of Godwin's law is how quickly an internet conversation reaches arguments over Elon Musk.

Without wanting to get political I wish we could get over the idea that this country has been the worst in history and what we have inflicted on countries throughout the world'
We were far from the worst European offenders in the 'slave trade' era for example, and we administered our colonies far less harshly than for example the Belgium and French colonies were etc.
If you want to go back far enough, why not the the Romans for subjugating a large part of Europe.
It's so easy to condemn our history without putting it into context. Do the French go around hanging their heads in shame because of Napoleon Bonaparte's atrocities ?
I note that you used the term British/English, don't forget that the British/Scots were heavily involved in the slave trade as well, apparently there are many Scottish surnames in the Caribbean :D

End of Rant, sorry @LenEV2016 , not aimed at you but it gets me when I hear or read remarks from anyone. :)

No offence taken I agree re other countries and the post was mainly in reply to using what Britain has done in the past and comparing it to China's Indiscretions in its own countries/neighbours.

I mentioned British/English because let's face it before there was a Britain, the English conquered/ruled the other home nations first and have been in a slightly biased relationship ever since

We don't have to go back very far at all. How many Jamaican's have been either sent back to Jamaica or had their pensions stopped or worse in the last few years.
