Hi
I’m about to take delivery of a MG ZS EV. Is there a conventional cigarette charger fitted which will accept my old sat nav.

The adaptors from USB to conventional cigarette lighter doesn’t seem to be much good according to the reviews on Amazon for instance.
If I need to consider that route can anyone recommend an adapter.
Thanks for reading, we love our little sat nav

No idea about a ZS EV ... maybe ask in the ZS board?

I'd be very surprised though if it didn't have a standard 12V socket - almost every car has one.

Yes there is a working 12V cigarette lighter socket but no lighter itself

There is a decent satnav in the car already and you can connect your phone and have Google maps with live traffic updates - works very well.

Don't want to spoil the fun (and I get it you are very fond of your satnav) but those satnavs like the one you have are either totally outdated and might take you into .... well, trouble ; or, if you are paying subscription, it's a daylight robbery ...

Google maps satnav that you already have on your phone , can take you to the nearest EV charger, give you live traffic updates and lot of other stuff that older style satnavs can't ...

I use a Tom Tom standalone sat nav plugged into a USB adapter in the 'cigarette' charger socket. I use it for longer journeys and more unfamiliar territory.

My old Navman was in a box for a few years. When I took it out for a trip down memory lane, and to recover the mini SD card, all the soft plastic parts had turned to sticky sludge. So I guess ‘Use it or lose it’.

I always use Google maps. Even if you don't have the connect version the talk button on the steering wheel will bring up the google assistant and you can tell it where you want to go or even play music if you have Spotify.

There is a cigarette charge socket hidden under a black plastic disc, left hand sideof transmission bulkhead. Google/ YouTube provide clear videos for a lot of these things too. The 2020 ZS EV sat nav is a bit clunky, but adequate. Google maps, with or without an Apple/Android Car Play dongle, is much more useful, though.

Can I run a camping fridge from this accessory plug? 0.25kw.hr
I tried a 'sub cold' brand mini fridge ( with a car attachment ) and it blew the fuse for the 12v "cigarette" charger socket. Its then a bit of a pain to change the fuse as you have to lie upside down on you back under the front passenger footwell to put a new one in.

If it is a 12V compressor fridge it should only be about 5A, the ciggy fuse should be 15A so why did it blow?

The fuse panel is very hard to get into especially for old farts like me. Next time I need to fiddle with fuses I was going to use my Samsung TAB and the front camera to show me what I am doing. Just need to position the TAB so it shows the fuse panel. It would have been nice if it was hinged. :(

No idea. It even came with a car charger which I used. Maybe it was the fridge that had developed a fault which caused it. The fridge woudnt work either after the fuse blew. Which was annoying. It was just the right size to pre-chill a single Philips PerfectDraft keg, so I always had a prechilled replacement ready to go.
